Love Island Australia star sparks outrage after saying ‘transgender people have a mental illness’ and gives a bizarre response to defend the controversial comment
Love Island alumni Isabelle Green has sparked outrage after saying ‘transgender people have a mental illness’.
The 29-year-old shared a bizarre meme to her Instagram story, which read: ‘Your ancestors who were bombed in trenches watching you have a panic attack when you forget your cherry vape at home.’
‘No offence… but wtf happened to our generation. This who trans thing, nope not for me. Its got to stop – it’s called mental illness. Kkk bye,’ she captioned the image.

Instagram account Influencer Updates AU reposted the post to their page and their followers slammed Green for her comments.
‘And we give these people a platform what a joke,’ one person said.
Another commented: ‘The way she has used a meme not even relating just to spread transphobic comments… foul.’
‘Wait so scary that she claims to be studying to become a qualified ‘life coach’ and preaches showing love to others,’ a third wrote.
‘Nah she real for that… Could have worded it better or had more of an explanation behind it rather than just randomly stating that,’ another said.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Green clarified she wasn’t speaking about transgender people in general, but was specifically talking about what she describes as ‘the growing movement of pedophiles transitioning in prison so they can re-emerge into society and reoffend’.
What she meant to convey, she said, was that pedophiles and those who transition behind bars in order to reoffend against children are ‘mentally ill’.
In a lengthy email, Green also said her commentary also reflected her concerns about ‘furries’ and adults who ‘identify’ as children.

She concluded: ‘Do I hate or dislike trans people? No, not at all. They can do whatever they like to their body. It’s got nothing to do with me. I support people living their truth.
‘When it affects my child or their safety, then yes I will voice my opinion. Child sex offenders should not be allowed to transition, period.
‘Because they are 100 per cent suffering from a mental illness – and we should at all costs be protecting the safety of our children.’
