‘I looked very underweight’: Lottie Moss admits she was ‘traumatised’ after being body-shamed as a young model – and reveals she was told to slim down to a 23-inch waist

Lottie Moss has revealed that she was left ‘traumatised’ after being body-shamed on set during her early years as a model.

In a candid new piece for Glamour, the model, 24, admitted her agents used to ‘laugh’ at her whenever she would eat on-set or at castings, and was even told she would have to slim down to a 23-inch waist to walk the runway.

Lottie, who admitted she’s ‘lucky’ she did not develop an eating disorder, admitted that when she looks back at snaps from her runway shows she looks ‘very underweight’.

In her piece, Lottie explained that she when she first signed to her modelling agency, she was told she needed to get a personal trainer.

She added: ‘As Fashion Week approached, they told me I had to get to a 23-inch waist and 30-inch hips if I had any hopes of doing runway. I’m 5 foot 5.

‘Whenever I ate on set or at castings, my agents would laugh at me. They’d say: ‘Here’s ‘ham and cheese sandwich girl’ again’ or, ‘She’s having another ham and cheese sandwich!’ And I’d just laugh along.

‘Back then, I didn’t realise how traumatising it was as a young girl; all the things they said to me. I’m incredibly lucky I didn’t develop an eating disorder.’

Lottie added that she managed to slim down to acheive a 23-inch waist, but now realises it ‘wasn’t healthy,’ and blamed it as the beginning of ‘a lot of problems’ for her.

The star went onto admit that she would accept modelling jobs she didn’t want to do, due to pressure from her agents, and after falling into a deep depression, suffered a mental breakdown in April 2021.

Lottie then revealed that after relocating to Los Angeles, she’s begun to pose for racy snaps on OnlyFans, but was still numb her anxiety with drugs and alcohol, and eventually she checked herself into rehab in February.

Lottie previously claimed her rehab stint earlier this year for cocaine addiction was the ‘best thing ever’ for her mental health

Kate Moss’ half-sister explained on Jamie Laing’s Private Parts podcast how she had been concealing her battle with depression for months before her mum Inger and best friend encouraged her to seek professional help at the centre too.

‘I couldn’t get out of bed in the morning. I quit modelling; I was doing some OnlyFans but not really. I didn’t recognise myself,’ she said.

‘I had never ever spoken about my true feelings for things. You have to tell people about how you feel, whether it’s your therapist, your parents or your friends.

‘Talking about things you have gone through is so important because if you don’t, you can’t heal from it, you can’t ever get over it, it just rots in your brain. And then you start to blame yourself for things. It’s a poison.’
