Back in June Lorraine praised her weight loss for giving her ‘zest for life back’ and enriching her relationship with husband Steve Smith.
The broadcaster signed up to WW in a bid to drop some pounds after steadily putting on weight in lockdown and after Christmas, and has gone from 11st 10lbs to 10st 3lbs since January.
And the breakfast television legend claims her self-esteem has been given a boost while she’s lighter on her toes.
Making changes:Â Back in June Lorraine praised her 1.5 stone weight loss for giving her ‘zest for life back’ and enriching her relationship with husband Steve Smith (pictured left after her weight loss and right in November 2021)
She told the Mirror: ‘It’s made life a lot easier. I know I wasn’t alone in putting on weight over the pandemic. I think a lot of us were comfort eating.
‘I’ve certainly got my zest for life back. It’s improved my confidence massively. I feel like I can take on anything right now.’
Lorraine said she took to enjoying chocolate and a glass of wine during lockdown, with the amount of confectionary she was consuming increasing to ‘humungous’ amounts by the end of the week, and for breakfast she would have croissants or buns.’
On the cause of her starting WW, she said: ‘It was a combination of things. I definitely overindulged over Christmas, as we all do. I was finding a size 14 was getting too tight.’
While stating there was nothing wrong with being a size 16, she added that she did not want to reach that dress size personally, saying her ‘fighting weight’ is a size 10.
Lorraine said she relished the opportunity to wear a smaller dress to the Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards 2022 earlier this year, and felt much more confident about presenting an award as she wasn’t as concerned with how she looked or felt.
And she said her weight loss has revitalized her relationship with her husband Steve.
On the up: The presenter also said her relationship with husband Steve has been enriched since her weight loss (pictured after receiving her CBE at Windsor Castle in December 2021)
She explained: ‘Steve says, ”I’ve got you back,” because my energy levels have improved. I’m up for doing stuff now whereas before, at the weekend, I would do some housework and then collapse in front of the telly.’
Lorraine added that Steve enjoys being part of the healthier cooking, adding recipes to his menu as he goes.
And, while she admits the couple may have a party but aren’t planning on renewing their wedding vows for their 30th anniversary in September, she would fit into her wedding dress once again.
