Logan Paul’s popular Prime energy drink contains almost DOUBLE the legal caffeine limit – but can be sold in Australia thanks to a loophole

Logan Paul‘s Prime energy drink contains almost twice the amount of caffeine allowed in beverages sold in Australia.

The 27-year-old American YouTube star’s energy drink has 56mg of caffeine per 100mls, while the maximum amount permitted in drinks sold across the country is 32mgs.

However it can still be sold by Aussie retailers due to a technicality. The drink has been classed as a ‘dietary supplement’ and thus not bound by standard caffeine limits.

The energy drink – which comes in a variety of flavours – has quickly flown off shelves around the country and signed bottles have sold online for thousands of dollars.

Paul and his business partner KSI have been marketing it at young people with hip advertising and a social media campaign, which sees the athletes step into the boxing ring in Prime drink costumes.

Professor Ben Desbrow – a Griffith University dietitian – said the energy drink posed risks for young people who drank it regularly.

‘One of these drinks on a rare occasion by itself is fine. But that’s not typically the way they are consumed and certainly not the way they’re consumed by young people,’ he told The Sydney Morning Herald

Paul recently visited Australia with his YouTuber partner KSI to promote the drink.

Putting on a fake Aussie accent, Logan told his 24.8 million Instagram followers: ‘Listen here, you little dungaroos. We are coming to Australia, me and KSI, to launch Prime in Australia and we are going [to do] a meet-up in Perth.

‘If you live in Perth, we want to see you there. The first 2,000 people get a bottle!

‘We are also coming to Sydney on February 13. You haven’t tried Prime yet in Australia, and when you do it will blow your socks off!’

The energy drink created by the influencers-turned-boxers has become incredibly popular among pre-teens and teenagers across the globe.

It is such a popular beverage that many are finding it hard to get their hands on, and in the UK a bottle can go for as much as £20 ($AU 35.45) online.
