House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock reveals she is ‘not doing any more fantasy roles’ despite the series’ success after filming ‘shocking scenes’ in a brothel for the show

Australian actress Milly Alcock has said she won’t star in another fantasy role despite the soaring success of House of the Dragon.

The 22-year-old, who played Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel said she is ‘grateful’ for the freedom her role has given her to pick future projects, but said she’ll be steering away from similar projects in the future.

‘I don’t want to do anything like that. I have done it and I don’t need to do it again. I am just kind of waiting for the right project. I am not in a rush to jump on something,’ she told the Herald Sun.

‘I would rather work not a lot and do work that I am really proud of and passionate about. When you sign on to a project you have to get used to talking about it for six months or a year of your life, so you want to make sure you really adore it and I am waiting for that project to come along and surprise me.’

The star, who went from relative obscurity to overnight success thanks to the role, added she’s ‘still trying to find her normal’ after the show and she knows life will ‘never be the same’.

‘It was and still is genuinely life-changing and I am still adjusting and it’s all very strange,’ she added.

‘But there’s also this element of ‘this is probably all going to be temporary and it will die down’.’

Milly previously spoke out about the ‘shocking’ experience of filming scenes for the series in a brothel, where she claims extras were in sex positions for up to 12 hours.

The actress said she felt ‘overdressed’ while recording her scenes in the brothel while surrounded totally naked people for a full day in the Game Of Thrones spin-off.

She told the New York Post: ‘There were extras who we had just met who were like, 69-ing for 12 hours.

‘It’s pretty gnarly, we felt pretty overdressed because everyone else was nude.’

In the fourth episode of the HBO show, her character Rhaenyra is taken to the Westeros capital of King’s Landing where she visits a brothel with her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), where the pair share a kiss.

Milly, who plays a 15-year-old in the show, said she had no idea what to expect as director Clare Kilner ensured the first time she set eyes on the brothel location was when she arrived to film her scenes.

She explained: ‘That was our first time walking through the brothel, and he’s guiding her through the room with all of these other bodies.

‘So, that was quite shocking. You’re like, “This is kind of weird and silly”.’

She praised Matt for making her feel comfortable during the scenes, adding that the pair had an intimacy coordinator to help them perform convincingly.
