Controversial Liberal candidate Katherine Deves has posted a relentless series of images of herself eating food as part of her campaign during the final week of the election.
Ms Deves, the Liberal Party’s candidate for Warringah on Sydney‘s northern beaches, has attracted intense scrutiny throughout the election campaign due to her views on transgender people playing female sports.
She has uploaded photos of herself consuming salads, sausage sandwiches, pizza, sushi, dumplings, kebabs, fish, chips and pies online.
It appears the mother-of-three has resorted to posting pictures of herself eating the food to support local businesses and clubs in her electorate.

Both Ms Deves’ supporters and her vocal critics have taken to social media to point out her tendency to post images whenever she eats.
‘Why is Katherine Deves’ social media campaign packed with photos of her eating food? There is everything from kebabs to fish and chips to pizza?’ tweeted one user.
‘Katherine loves her food and this is always a sign of a strong character,’ commented another on Facebook.
A third said: ‘Quite a robust appetite does the good candidate have, along with an appetite for controversy!!’
One critic wrote on her Facebook page: ‘Do you ever stop eating out?’
‘CAN lower-paid people afford to eat out? You know them – the ones Scotty doesn’t want to receive just $1 an hour more at work as prices soar.
‘Perhaps you should invite a few of them to your lavish lunches sometime.’
One Twitter user observed that the lawyer is bombarding social media with the images in an attempt to be perceived in a more positive light.
‘Anyone noticed that Katherine Deves won’t stop posting photos of her eating food on her Facebook? Like every third pic is her eating some sort of meal. Is this some sort of strategy to humanise her?’
Others on social media claimed the posts are part of a strategy to support businesses and receive favourable attention in the wake of her controversial tweets that trans athletes shouldn’t participate in women’s sport.

Ms Deves explained the reasons behind her strong stance against transgender athletes in women’s sport weeks earlier and claimed that the majority of Australians agreed with her.
The candidate, who was handpicked by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to run in the seat of Warringah, became involved in the issue when her three daughters became interested in sport.
She began looking into how gender identity was coming into conflict with sex and believed a ‘proper debate’ wasn’t taking place.
‘I had been looking into the issue of how gender identity was coming into conflict with sex, and I realised that in Australia there were policies that were being put in place that were going to prioritise gender identity over sex in sports,’ she told the Daily Telegraph.
She believes the issue was about a conflict of rights that needed to be resolved.
‘I think there’s a lot of quiet Australians out there who do hold common sense positions on many things and I’ve received messages of support from all over the country, even internationally,’ she said.
‘Historically, we women have had to fight very, very hard to participate equally in public life, and this is just another demonstration of women fighting for their rights.’

Ms Deves has landed in the spotlight over several controversial tweets she later deleted including one where she compared lobbying to stop transgender athletes from competing in women’s sport to standing up against the Holocaust.
In another tweet she described transgender children as ‘surgically mutilated and sterilised’ and compared transgender rights to the Stolen Generation.
She also referred to surrogacy as ‘reproductive prostitution’ and a ‘human rights violation’.
The Sydney lawyer later apologised for some of her posts on trans people, saying that her comments were ‘not acceptable’.
‘My advocacy for the rights and safety of women and girls is well known, and I stand by my desire to ensure we protect the safety of women and girls and our entire community,’ she said in a statement.
‘However, the language I used was not acceptable, and for that I apologise.’
She later revealed that she and her family fled their Sydney home following death threats and backlash she had received over her views.
She has constantly rejected the assertion that she’s transphobic.
