The Princess of Wales appeared to take fashion inspiration from her sister-in-law Meghan Markle when arriving in the US alongside Prince William on Wednesday, according to royal enthusiasts.Â
Kate and Prince William, both 40, were photographed stepping off a British Airways flight at Boston Logan International Airport at the start of their three-day whirlwind visit to the States.
The mother-of-three appeared effortlessly elegant in a midnight blue trouser suit from her go-to designer Alexander McQueen – the same British label that designed her wedding dress in 2011 – and a knitter turtleneck jumper.
Royal fans noted online that the outfit appeared strikingly similar to one the Duchess of Sussex, 41, wore during a trip to New York in September 2021; Meghan stepped out in a black coat, high-neck top and wide-legged trousers.

This isn’t the first time Meghan and Kate have seemingly channelled each other’s ensembles.
In July 2022, the Duchess of Sussex appeared to take a leaf out of the Princess of Wales’ fashion bible, when wearing a £4,000 monochrome jumpsuit – which was near identical to a gown her sister-in-law wore earlier this year.
The Duchess, who is currently living with Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, in a $14million California mansion after stepping back from their royal duties, joined her husband in New York to celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day at the United Nations Headquarters.
Meghan opted for a bold black and white Gabriela Hearst fitted strapless jumpsuit for the occasion, which she paired with black stilettos and a red bag.
The look from the mother-of-two was similar to one worn by Kate back in May – when she stepped out in a £2,700 Roland Mouret black gown with an identical white strap detail at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere.
This isn’t the first time the two have worn outfits that look similar. In fact, the women have donned alike clothing many times. They are seen wearing similar yellow dresses in 2018

Kate’s and Meghan’s style once again showed similar aspects in October 2018.
Former Suits star Meghan was seen wearing a burgundy printed frock by & Other Stories while out in Fraser Island.Â
Kate opted for a similar long-sleeve polka dot dress of the same colour by British retailer Whistles, when she attended a reception for Radio One’s Teen Heroes of 2018 at Kensington Palace a few days earlier.
Meghan was twinning with her sister-in-law once again when she wore a Burberry coat while visiting Scotland with her husband in February 2018; Kate was seen rocking an Alexander McQueen coatdress with a very alike pattern at the St. Andrew’s Day festival in 2012.
The sister-in-laws also wore alike dresses just days apart to in July 2018, with Meghan sporting a yellow form-fitting gown on July 5, and Kate showing up to Wimbledon in one that looked just like it 10 days later.Â
On Wednesday, Kate paid tribute her late mother-in-law by wearing a pair of stunning sapphire and diamond earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana as she arrived in America alongside Prince William.
Diana was spotted wearing the earrings on several occasions before her death in 1997 – including when she attended the Met Gala in New York City in 1996 and during a visit to Canada in 1991.Â
Kate previously wore them back in June when she attended Trooping the Colour as part of the late Queen’s birthday celebrations.
She and William, who opted for a dark suit, flew to Boston on a commercial flight from London, and the trip marked the first time the pair have visited the US since 2014.
The Prince and Princess of Wales also joined 20,000 basketball fanatics to cheer on the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden stadium and promote the Earthshot Prize awards on day one in the city – but their first trip to the US in eight years has been overshadowed by a racism scandal rocking Buckingham Palace.
William and Kate arrived in Boston just hours after the Prince’s own godmother, Lady Susan Hussey, a former lady-in-waiting to the late Queen, was accused of making racist remarks at a reception hosted by Queen Consort Camilla.

She put on an incredibly elegant display in the $2,190 blazer and $890 boot-cut trousers. Underneath the jacket, she wore a knitted turtleneck in a matching colour
Lady Hussey, 83, resigned from the royal household yesterday after she allegedly refused to believe a black domestic abuse campaigner, Ngozi Fulani, was British and asked her: ‘What part of Africa are you from?’ as they spoke at the event.
William’s spokesperson spoke out to condemn Lady Hussey’s ‘unacceptable’ comments hours before the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in the US, saying: ‘I want to address the story relating to a guest attending a reception at Buckingham Palace last night.
‘This is a matter for Buckingham Palace but as the Prince of Wales’ spokesperson, I appreciate you’re all here and understand you’ll want to ask about it. So let me address it head-on.
‘I was really disappointed to hear about the guest’s experience at Buckingham Palace last night. Obviously, I wasn’t there, but racism has no place in our society. The comments were unacceptable, and it is right that the individual has stepped aside with immediate effect.’

Kate teamed the vibrant jacket with wide leg trousers on that occasion – but decided to opt for slim fitting black trousers and matching black heels for yesterday’s ensemble
