Kate Hudson posed for a rare picture with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, 55, this week as their son Ryder graduated high school.

The 43-year-old Almost Famous actress posted an Instagram snap Thursday night of herself and Chris posing up with their son at his ceremony.

Both the former spouses glowed with parental pride as they stood on either side of Ryder, 18, who beamed and showed off his diploma for the camera.

Throwback to 2005: Chris and Kate tied the knot on New Year’s Eve 2000 after a whirlwind romance that saw them move in with each other just a week into the relationship

‘Today was a big day for our family. A day you talk about about when your kids are little and say things like “hey, one day it will be 2022 and you’ll graduate from high school!”‘ Kate wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.

‘As if that day is so far it is barely reachable. And then here we are! @mr.ryderrobinson you are the most incredible young man. Raising you has been one of the great gifts and pleasures of my life,’ she added. 

‘You bring so much to everyone’s life. You are kind, loving, generous, patient, hilarious and one of a kind. I am so excited for this next chapter. Way to go baby!’

She went on: ‘Ma loves you! AND!!! To all the parents out there feeling the same thing I am today! CONGRATS! Letting your babies fly ain’t easy but fly kiddos fly!’

Kate shares Bingham with her ex-fiance Matt Bellamy of Muse fame and Rani with her current longtime love Danny Fujikawa. 

In fact all three of the men she has had children with are musicians – Chris is most famous for being the frontman of the Black Crowes.

They separated in 2006 and finalized their divorce in 2007, but Kate retained an amicable relationship with him as they brought up their son.

‘When I met Chris it was like nothing else; I had no question that I was going to have a kid with him,’ she told the Times Online in 2009. ‘Every rule went out the window.’

Kate reflected on the permanent bond that she and Chris have as Ryder’s parents, saying: ‘Whoever he ends up with, whoever I end up with, we’ll always be together.’

She herself is the daughter of film star Goldie Hawn and singer Bill Hudson, but Goldie’s longtime love Kurt Russell is the man she calls ‘Pa.’
