Kate Beckinsale echoed the thoughts of a nation while watching England lose to France in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday night.
Gareth Southgate‘s team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the reigning world champions following a series of controversial decisions from Brazilian referee Wilton Sampaio, among them the denial of a clear penalty in the first half.
Watching from home with close friend Gabriella Morpeth, the actress, 49, shared a video of the pair railing against Sampaio before jumping to their feet and celebrating after captain Harry Kane slotted home a second half spot-kick.

Patriotic Beckinsale has been keeping a keen eye on England’s progress in Qatar, and admitted she was disappointed with their quarter-final exit.
Captioning her latest video, she wrote: ‘Highs and lows . Well done England we are proud of you. Congratulations to France x Both teams delivered . Referee super iffy.’
The British star also shared an assortment of clips filmed as she watched the team progress through the group stages and a memorable last 16 win over Senegal.

Earlier that day Beckinsale had also congratulated Croatia – where she has been filming forthcoming move Canary Black on location over recent weeks – following their monumental quarter-final win against favourites Brazil.
The Three Lions will now pack their bags as they prepare to fly home from Qatar, with the team expected to arrive back in the UK on Sunday afternoon.
Southgate’s men were utterly devastated at the final whistle yesterday and captain Kane was inconsolable, sinking to his knees and hiding his face in his hands in a futile attempt to prevent the tears from streaking down his face.

There were similar scenes in the stands of the Al-Bayt stadium as the wives, girlfriends and families of the despairing players looked on, wiping tears from their eyes before embracing their fallen heroes who sauntered off the pitch in search of solace.
The squad are expected to arrive back at Birmingham Airport at 6.30pm on Sunday evening.
Southgate has said that he needs time to reflect after last nights loss as to whether he will continue being England’s manager.
His contract runs until after Euro 2024.
