The Three Lions have had an appalling record when their World Cup matches have been screened live on the commercial channel.
Before the Senegal game, since 1998, England had won just two of their 15 World Cup matches on ITV – compared with an astounding 12 out of 16 on the BBC.
This meant England’s win percentage on ITV was just 13 per cent, compared to a much more prosperous 75 per cent on the BBC.
Following this game, England’s win percentage on the channel was upped to 19 per cent.
Big match: Peter Andre also enjoyed the match with his 17-year-old son Junior in their cinema room, with the teenager repeating, ‘Look at that goal,’ and, ‘Is it coming home?’
