Jesy Nelson will reportedly shoot a music video for her new single Bad Things, despite being between record labels.
The singer, 31, is allegedly set to film the project in a nostalgic East London location, and it will be inspired by her dad John being in and out of prison.
A source told The Sun: ‘Jesy loves being creative in her music videos and is throwing herself into channelling her mum, and playing the role of someone who falls in love with a guy who ends up in prison.
‘It’s a really meaningful track for her and the lyrics are personal.’
MailOnline has contacted Jesy’s representatives for comment.
‘It’s a really meaningful track’: Jesy Nelson is reportedly shooting a music video for her new single Bad Things about her estranged dad John being in and out of prison
Jesy previously blamed her love for bad boys on her father, telling The Sun: ‘Growing up, my dad wasn’t around.
‘My dad wasn’t the best, he was in and out of prison, so I haven’t had many good men role models in my life, so maybe that’s where it stems from.’
‘When I see someone that looks a bit naughty, I am instantly drawn to them, and it’s not good. If someone has a gold tooth I literally fall in love.’
In 1985, John was found guilty of murder and affray, according to the Daily Star, following a street battle which left amateur boxer Paul Reidy dead.
The roofer had been knifed three times outside Lautrec’s disco in Dagenham and John was jailed for life, but his conviction was overturned shortly afterwards following an appeal. He served a shorter sentence for affray instead.
And back in 2016, John was arrested after a man died in a hit-and-run crash, but was released on bail.
He was held after his Range Rover was involved in the fatal collision with a motorcycle in Gidea Park, Essex, on Friday, The Sun reported.
Then 51-years-old, the garden centre owner, who is estranged from his pop star daughter, denied being behind the wheel at the time.

Motorcyclist Craig Voyce, 23, a father of three, was knocked from his vehicle and fatally injured. He later died in hospital.
The blue car didn’t stop after the crash outside a pub at 11pm, according to police. But the Range Rover was found in a nearby car park.
Mr Nelson was later arrested near the scene. It was claimed that two other men were with him in the car at the time of the crash and he denied being behind the wheel.
It follows claims Jesy is about to sign a major new deal with Warner Records ahead of releasing her second solo single Cried Out this year.
The former Little Mix star is said to be in advanced talks with the label after parting ways with Polydor in July last year after due to ‘creative differences’.
Jesy will release the new music independently but the labels will be keeping a close eye on her and fans reactions to the song ahead of offering a deal.
A source told The Sun: ‘It has been a tumultuous few months for Jesy but she is working hard to come back with a bang. She has had meetings with labels, including Warner, about the possibility of signing a new deal.
‘Jesy will be releasing Cried Out as an independent artist and the labels will be keeping a close eye on the reaction to the song. After being so unhappy, Jesy is really enjoying being independent.
Project: A source said: ‘Jesy loves being creative in her music videos and is throwing herself into channelling her mum, and playing the role of someone who falls in love with a guy who ends up in prison’
‘But she has made it clear that if someone offers her the right deal, she will take it. She has been in talks with Warner for some time but it all depends on whether they can carve up a deal which suits them both.’
The source went on to admit that pals close to the singer think her future would be bright with Warner Records however ‘nothing is set in stone’.
Jesy has been spending weeks teasing her upcoming album but the release date is yet to be announced.
It comes after she impressed her fans as she shared a video of herself singing ahead of the release of her next single.
The star performed an incredible rendition of Best Party by Daniel Caesar, saying it had ‘been a while’ since she posted a cover.
Several of Jesy’s followers praised her powerhouse vocals with fellow singer Anastacia writing: ‘Smooth sounds’.
Another fan wrote: ‘Your voice is the definition of pure magic,’ while another added: ‘missed hearing these vocals’.
The video came after Jesy reportedly filmed a new music video with her ex-boyfriend Harry James for her yet-to-be released music.
Jesy was recently tipped to be releasing her first single since debut song Boyz in 2021, after leaving her record label Polydor earlier this year.
And her on-off boyfriend Harry, who was the one who ‘masterminded’ the controversial music video for Boyz, appears to be back on board for the second song.
Harry started dating Jesy back in 2017 and the pair were together for 16 months before they called time on their relationship – but have worked together numerous times since.
Despite reports that the pair cut ties last year, he is thought to have once again been enlisted to work on the new video.
According to The Sun, Jesy recorded the video with Harry as the director and that her new song is called Cried Out.
