The original cast members of MTV’s Jersey Shore are not pleased with the network’s recent announcement about a reboot titled Jersey Shore 2.0.
Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, 39, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, 34, Jenni ‘JWoww’ Farley, 37, and Paul ‘Pauly D’ DelVecchio, 41, were among the cast members who released a Twitter statement on Thursday, slamming the new show.
‘Please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers,’ the cast wrote.

‘As a cast took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see,’ the statement began.
‘We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world,’ it continued, before slamming the new version.
At the end of the statement, the Jersey stars encouraged viewers to instead tune in to their other show, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
They concluded their message with the hashtag, ‘#WeAreJerseyShore.’

Other cast members who shared the same messages were Vinny Guadagnino, Angelina Pivarnick, and Deena Cortese.
The Situation also went on to Tweet another poignant message, writing, ‘Often duplicated but never replicated’ followed by, ‘there is no substitute for lightning in a bottle.’
Polizzi, Farley, Sorrentino, DelVecchio, Guadagnino, 34, Cortese, 35, Pivanrick, 35, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, 36, are all part of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which premiered in 2018 and wrapped its fifth season earlier this year.

Ronnie’s ex Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola, 35, was the only member who declined MTV’s offer to do the show.
MTV announced this week that the network would be adding Jersey Shore 2.0 to its programming.
‘It’s been 13 years since the iconic cast of Jersey Shore fist-pumped their way into our lives and stole our hearts. Now, the time-honored tradition continues with a new group of roommates moving into their own Shore house,’ the release for the show read.

‘They have have traded their poofs for plumped pouts and UV rays for spray tans, but when things heat up in Jersey, the Shore is still the place to be to make memories all summer long.’
The original Jersey Shore ran on MTV from 2009 to 2012 and was an instant reality TV sensation.
It followed the lives of the housemates at a vacation home: in Seaside Heights, New Jersey in seasons one, three, five and six, as well as South Beach, Florida in season two and Florence, Italy in season four.
