James Purefoy broke down in tears live on This Morning on Tuesday as he chatted to stand in hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle live in studio. 

The actor, 58, who hails from Taunton, became overwhelmed with emotion as he bonded with Josie, 37, over their west country accents. 

Josie is from Bristol and James told her as he burst into tears: ‘Look at me, I’m a wreck!’

James said he was thrilled to hear her accent on national television.  

‘I was born in Taunton yeah, I’m tearing up… look at me, honestly, what a wreck!’ he said as he laughed through the tears.

‘I don’t think you hear a west country accent [on television] very often and when you do, they’re often stereotypical and they’re not the ones you want to be associated with.

'I don't think you hear a west country accent [on television] very often and when you do, they're often stereotypical and they're not the ones you want to be associated with,' he explained

It comes after Ofcom warned the BBC in November last year to become less ‘London-centric’ to achieve impartiality.

Josie and Craig are filling in for regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who are on a break for the festive period.

The pair are set to return to the program in January and pre-recorded a Christmas special to be aired on December 25. 

Last week, Holly revealed that she and her family were enjoying a pre-Christmas break at a luxurious ski resort in the French Alps. 

The resort costs a cool £1,000 per night.

Holly took to Instagram to share photos of her time there, gushing that she’d made ‘memories that she would cherish for life’.

Phillip meanwhile recently quipped of his New Year’s plans: ‘That really is a lovely phase. I never tend to do New Years resolutions as I know I won’t keep them!

‘But for 2023 we will both be back on This Morning and then for Dancing on Ice which is always the next thing to look forward to for us in the New Year and before you know it when Dancing on Ice finishes, it’s Spring…’
