‘It’s time to put down the remote’: Gogglebox favourites Marcus Luther and Mica Ven QUIT Channel 4 show after five years as London based pair look ‘to see what else God has in store’

Gogglebox favourites Marcus Luther and Mica Ven have left the popular Channel 4 show after five years in order to pursue other projects.

The London based husband and wife duo made their debut in 2017, but have since opted to say goodbye to the BAFTA and National Television Award winning series.

Breaking the news in an Instagram post on Monday, Marcus wrote: ‘We just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to @c4Gogglebox for having us for the last 5 years, even though we had to travel so far for filming (downstairs & through the corridor) it was so worth it, it’s been an epic journey! You guys are the bestest of the best.

‘We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking Gogglebox crew but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us.

‘To everyone that has tuned in & sent us messages of love and encouragement over the years, we appreciate every last one of you. Thank you so much.’

He added: ‘To the amazing cast, you’ll forever be our G’box brothers & sisters 4life.

‘And lastly, To all our Yardie friends & family that always big us up to whoever will listen, when you’re chatting about our departure, the program’s called GOGGLEBOX not GOOOOOGLEbox, it’s not a dam search engine.’

Some of Marcus and Mica’s co-stars sent their best wishes to the couple within minutes of them announcing their departure on social media.

Twaine Plummer simply said: ‘All the best in the future.’

Elsewhere, Izzi Warner admitted to being sorry to see them leave the show, posting: ‘We’ll miss you both.’

The couple have become firm favourites with Gogglebox viewers over recent years, but Marcus previously claimed that he hates being recognised by members of the public.

He explained: ‘I avoid being recognised like the plague. I’ll have my mask and a hat on and people will still say, “Look at the eyes, it’s Marcus from Gogglebox!” And I’m like, “For f***’s sake!”‘

Meanwhile, Mica jokingly compared herself to reality TV’s most famous family.

Discussing her experience of fame, she said: ‘If I cover my locks, I get recognised less. The locks are a giveaway. I don’t think I’ll ever get properly used to it.

‘Sometimes, I feel like one of the Kardashians.’
