Iranian fans BOO their own anthem before World Cup game with England

Iran‘s players refused to sing the national anthem as boos rung out from the stands ahead of their first game of the Qatar World Cup against England today. 

The Iranian national squad, which has signalled support for protests against the Islamic regime taking place back home, stood stony-faced as the anthem played shortly ahead of kick-off. 

Meanwhile fans in the stands the Khalifa International Stadium were heard booing and jeering, as others were pictured waving banners with slogans supporting the demonstrators.
