Just in time for party season, a new nightspot on a ‘singular mission to provide abundant pleasure’ is set to become a favourite with high society, all thanks to the ‘King of Mayfair’.

What once used to be a Porsche garage on Mount Street has been completely transformed into an ornate, Greco-Roman hotspot, where celebs and socialites will no doubt flock to take in the luxurious interiors.

Bacchanalia, the new restaurant concept from Richard Caring’s Caprice Holdings, delivers a glamorous dining destination where every corner is a work of art – including 2,000-year-old pieces bought from Christie’s and Sotheby’s.

The lavish offering – which is set to open its doors on November 24 – includes sculptures by world renowned artist Damien Hirst, a Greek and Italian inspired menu and romantic balcony-like fittings on the upstairs floor.

Last night, VIPs and celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Maya Jama and Mia Regan were treated to an elegant, vibrant and immersive opening party thrown by the Annabel’s owner, under the gaze of winged lovers perched on a flying unicorn courtesy of Hirst.

Emma Weymouth, Marchioness of Bath, Daisy Lowe and Lennon Gallagher were also among the fashionable crowd who got to enjoy a teaser of the restaurant’s delightfully glitzy atmosphere.

The interiors journey you centuries back into a Mediterranean villa, adorned by four special-made sculptures courtesy of artist Damien Hirst – who also attended the event.

The giant, column-stacked works depict a unicorn, and Ancient Greek Gorgon Medusa, adding a theatrical flair to the space, while numerous busts further add to the place’s classical glamour.

Murals created by artist Gary Myatt further capture the dual nature of Bacchanalia – both an ancient relic and modern endeavour.

The menu – a love story between traditional Greek and Italian flavours – features dishes which are all designed to be shared.

Online booking is now available for Bacchanalia, a space which oozes opulence and is set in the hub of London's poshest neighbourhood

Curiosity and new experiences shaped the food offerings, as culminated by Culinary Director Athinagoras Kostakos.

‘Bacchanalia was a festival of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll,’ Mr Caring previously told The Times, explaining how the title in Greco-Roman religion was given to any of the several festivals of Bacchus (Dionysus), the wine god.

An upstairs area features romantic balcony-like fittings, allowing guests to look down at the happenings on the floor below and tying the space together. A private dining room is available, able to fit some 20 people, in the upper floor.

Discussing his budget for the project prior to its completion, Mr Caring said: ‘I have a number in my head, but I’m not sure we’re going to hit it.

‘When we buy real art, I don’t count that in the cost. As long as you don’t buy it stupidly, you can always get your money back.’

Throughout the evening, a selection of musical talent performed to create an immersive atmosphere, including DJ Valeron and Who Made Who.

Not a slither of space is spared with ornamentation, be it through fresco-style painting decoration on the ceiling and walls, or the bronzed sheen of Bacchanalia’s bar. At the end of the main room, walls were lined with sheaths of tall pampas.

The atmosphere leaned into its namesake, the wild and boisterous celebrations known as a bacchanal, as dancers dressed in Greco-Roman inspired dress, accessorised with wreathes and arm cuffs, filtered through the evening.

Drinks, including selections from Don Julio 1942 and Ruinart Champagne, were poured and refilled consistently throughout the night.

For added glitz, the opening night saw a ornately-dressed Cupid walking around with a bow and arrow throughout the evening.

Guests last night got a flavour of the dining destination, tasting a selection of drinks from the new cocktail menu, including Lost in Athens, Freddo and Karpouzi, plus a wide selection of mocktails for diners to enjoy.

Canapes, including oyster and spicy mignonette, seabream with green apple and caviar, mini tart crab salad and arancini – were also sampled.

To finish off with something sweet, a selection of pavlova, Tiramisu and Liquorino desserts were on offer.
