Moment Aussie motorcyclist confronts cop for having a bald tyre – after he was pulled over and handed a defect notice: ‘You’re a hypocrite’
An Adelaide motorcyclist has a claimed a type of moral victory over a police officer who gave him a ticket – even if it did cost him $62.
When Theo Glibo was approached at a service station to be given a defect notice for the bike he was riding he pointed out the officer’s car should also get a notice for a bald tyre, a defect the officer admitted and SA Police say they have since addressed.
Mr Glibo, 24, filmed the exchanges for Tik Tok and his post has been seen 1.5 million times.
The first video is captioned ‘Sapol at its finest #1’ and shows MrGlib, 24, goading the officer to issue a defect notice over his own tyre.
‘I’m copping a defect and this cop has a bald tyre and he’s not even gonna defect his own car,’ Mr Glibo said in the video.
‘I’m not going to put a sticker on it for something that’s going to be dealt with tomorrow,’ the officer says.
A motorcyclist who was given a defect notice called out the officer after spotting the tyre on his patrol car was bald
The officer agreed the tyre was bald.
‘Why not? That’s what you’re doing with mine, you’re a hypocrite,’ Mr Glibo says.
‘If this was anybody else’s tyre, you’d defect it. Where’s the wear bar on that?’
The officer even admits Mr Glibo is correct.
‘You’re absolutely right, so I will defect that when I get back to my office,’ the officer said.
South Australia Police have since issued a statement, which appears to vindicate Mr Glibo’s assertion.
‘South Australia Police are aware of the social media post relating to an interaction between a SAPOL employee and a member of the public where the police vehicle was identified to have a bald tyre,” it read.
“SAPOL have taken steps to address this matter.”
