She’s worth a reported $140m, is the founder of successful wine business Avaline, and has a happy family life with her husband Benji Madden and their daughter Raddix.

So it’s no wonder some Cameron Diaz fans were left scratching their heads when it was revealed the actress, 50, would come out of retirement for Netflix rom-com, Back In Action, after eight years away from the industry.

The Golden Globe nominee officially announced she was quitting acting in 2018 so she could dedicate more time to herself and rocker Benji.

A year later, she welcomed daughter Raddix, three, in December 2019 and said she ‘couldn’t imagine’ leaving her child to embark on 14-hour shoots.

Little is known about the upcoming action-comedy, however it will see Cameron reunite with her close pal Jamie Foxx, whom she starred alongside in her last project, 2014’s Annie.

She's got $140m in the bank, a happy family life and a successful wine business - so how was Cameron Diaz REALLY persuaded to come out of retirement for a Netflix rom-com?

And it seems it’s all down to her close friendship with Jamie Foxx.

Following the news, Cameron wrote in an Instagram Story: ‘(Jamie Foxx) only you could get me back in action. I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!’

He notably brought in American footballer Tom Brady in an effort to coax the retired actress back from her long-term break.

The end of Cameron’s retirement was announced through a message that was shared to Jamie’s Twitter account in June.

During the call, she made a point of expressing how troubled she was about making a announcement.

She stated: ‘I’m so anxious right now, I’m pacing the room…I don’t know how to do this, you know?’

The Django Unchained star then brought in quarterback Brady, 44, who was famously indecisive about ending his career, to give the actress a few pointers.

‘I was talking to Jamie and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire. I’m relatively successful at un-retiring,’ he stated.

Jamie also added a message in which he said he needed a bit of help to get Diaz back into acting, describing her as a GOAT, which stands for Greatest Of All Time.

Cameron also said during a September appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon: ‘I’ve also made two movies with Jamie, which is amazing…

The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie. So, it’s amazing.

Despite her current acting gig for Netflix, the busy bee promoted her clean, vegan wine brand Avaline earlier this month.

She appeared to be getting into the Christmas spirit as she recommended her followers spend a night in watching her smash hit 2006 film, The Holiday, which recently sparked rumors of a sequel, and drinking wine.

‘Can I tip you guys off to the perfect pairing for the holiday season? The Holiday on the television, a glass of Avaline wine and a room full of friends,’ the Charlie’s Angels star suggested.

Cameron went on to encourage fans to check out her company’s guide ‘to creating the movie night of your dreams.’

Her post came just days after Kate Winslet shut down claims a sequel to The Holiday, was in the works – after it was claimed the original cast were reuniting for a new movie.

‘I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it,’ the Titanic star told People.

She continued: ”I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.’
