Three women and a baby in a pram have cheated death after an SUV nearly fell on them from the sky when its driver ploughed through the wall of a car park.

CCTV footage shows the pedestrians standing on the street below the first floor car park in Balneario Camboriu, Brazil, yesterday.

All of a sudden, debris crashes down all around them as the wall came thundering down along with the white vehicle.

As passers-by run to help, the driver incredibly just opens the door of his car and walks out.

One of the women, aged 23, was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance.

She reportedly sustained head trauma and fractures to her pelvis and chest. Her condition remained serious at the time of reporting.

The Fire Department reported that the other two women and the child in the pram did not require medical attention.

The driver – seen in the footage clambering out of his vehicle after it was left nose-down on the ground – also went to hospital.

When he is discharged, he will be arrested for leaving the scene of the accident without helping the victims, Military Police said.

Military Police added that the vehicle belongs to a Paraguayan family that was visiting Balneario Camboriu and staying in the building.

The driver is said to be the son of the 69-year-old owner of the vehicle, which is registered in Paraguay.

Military Police Sergeant Denicio Francisco Rosa said: ‘He claims that the car had a mechanical breakdown.

‘As a result, he ended up losing control of the car and went through the wall.’

When officers found him in hospital, he was given a breathalyser test and found to be under the legal alcohol limit.
