Harrison Ford proves he’s still got it in the very first trailer for his highly-anticipated adventure film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The Hollywood icon, 80, returns as everyone’s favorite professor alongside co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a new sneak peek capturing his many daring escapades.Â
The clip shows Indy facing new foes after seemingly coming out of retirement from a quieter life in education, in addition to the results of advanced technology which de-aged the star for a flashback scene.Â

The trailer, which also unveiled the title of the previously unnamed film, begins with glimpses of Indy’s many escapades around the world as a man attempts to persuade him to return to his life of adventure.
‘I miss the desert, I miss the sea, and I miss waking up every morning wondering what new adventure the day will bring to us,’ the man tells Indiana after approaching him at an airport.
But Indy has no interest returning to his old ways. ‘Those days have come and gone,’ he replies.
His friend seems unconvinced.  ‘Perhaps. Perhaps not,’ he responds.Â

This time, Indiana is joined by his goddaughter Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Helena proves she has her godfather’s adventurous spirit as she is seen getting caught up in an epic car chase and helping him topple a boulder from their path.
The trailer ends on another action-packed note with Indiana attempting to scare a room full of apparent baddies by breaking out his whip.
‘Get back!’ he commands before the men bust out their guns.

De-aging is a 3D effect technology used to make an actor look younger. To do so, post-production studios typically edit a digital image or apply computer-generated imagery (CGI) overlays or touch-ups to the necessary scenes, according to ReSpeecher.

Co-writer Jeff Butterworth explained, ‘The simple fact is that the moon-landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis. How “ex” they are is the question. And it gets up Indy’s nose…’

‘He’s a man who would like to correct some of the mistakes of the past,’ explained the veteran villain.
‘There is something that could make the world a much better place to live in. He would love to get his hands on it. Indiana Jones wants to get his hands on it as well. And so, we have a story.’
Joining them in the action-adventure are Waller-Bridge, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas.

Harrison, who still flies his own private airplane, describes the story as ‘full of adventure, full of laughs, full of real emotion. And it’s complex and it’s sneaky.’
The opportunity to step back into Indy’s world was exciting for the actor, who wasn’t ready to say goodbye to his famous alter-ego. ‘I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey. If a script came along that I felt gave me a way to extend the character.’
But getting back into action mode nearly 40 years after making the original was not easy. ‘The shooting of it was tough and long and arduous,’ the action hero admitted. ‘But I’m very happy with the film that we have.’
Indiana Jones 5 is expected to debut in theaters June 30, 2023.
