Newlyweds who celebrated their nuptials just ten days before the bride died in a freak honeymoon golf buggy accident postponed the wedding for a year due to Covid lockdowns.
Marina Morgan, 29, was killed on Monday when the vehicle tipped over while she was honeymooning with her new husband, Robbie Morgan, on idyllic Hamilton Island – ten days after they got married.
Mr Morgan, a real estate agent, asked the young woman to be his wife at a lavish dinner in Sydney in June 2019, surrounded by candles and rose petals, with a large sign that read: ‘Marina, will you marry me?’
He was so excited that he posted a photo of the happy couple on Facebook, with the caption:Â ‘Huge night! She said YES!’
As hundreds of friends and family members congratulated the pair, Ms Hanna wrote: ‘Thank you for such an amazing night, baby. I love you so much can’t wait to be your wife.’
They originally planned to get married on July 24, 2021, but lockdowns and venue capacity limits during the pandemic forced them to change the date to June 11, 2022 – also pushing back the date of their Hamilton Island honeymoon.
Unbeknownst to them, the change of plans was a life or death decision.

The new Mrs Morgan, 29, was killed on the Whitsundays resort island on Monday afternoon.
She was a passenger in a golf buggy, driven by her new husband, when the vehicle ran out of batteries on Whitsunday Boulevard.
They decided to do a U-turn to go back and charge the buggy – however, the vehicle flipped over.
Mrs Morgan, who not wearing a seatbelt, fell out of the vehicle and onto the road.
Bystanders, including an off-duty firefighter, dentist and doctor, tried for 35 minutes to save her life – but the young woman was in cardiac arrest.
A helicopter was originally called from nearby Townsville to take her to hospital, but was stood down when experts realised the severity of her injuries.

In a Facebook comment after they announced their engagement, Ms Morgan said: ‘Thank you for such an amazing night, babe! I can’t wait to be your wife’
The young woman died on the scene – in front of her husband, who was physically unscathed.
Police said alcohol was not a factor and described the tragedy as an ‘accident’.
Golf buggies are the main form of transport on the holiday island and can be hired for a small fee with no training required. They are all fitted with seatbelts.Â
On July 24 last year – the day they were supposed to get married – a friend wrote a comment on Mr Morgan’s Facebook page: ‘Thinking of you and Marina today. It should have been your very special day.’Â
The couple finally got married at St Mary & St Merkorious Coptic Orthodox Church in Rhodes, in Sydney’s north-west, on June 11 – ten days before the tragedy.
Footage showed the bride and groom sharing their first dance in a room of cheering friends and family during the reception at Doltone House, at Sydney’s Hyde Park.

Mrs Morgan’s brother shared a series of happy snaps from the big day, including a photo of him with Mr Morgan – ‘welcome to the family, brother,’ he wrote.
The blushing bride wore a long, bejeweled white dress and held a bouquet of white roses as she sat in the back of a limousine with Mr Morgan following the ceremony.
Two weeks before the wedding, Mr Morgan and his brothers celebrated their mother’s 50th birthday.
On Tuesday evening, tributes started pouring in for Mrs Morgan, who was remembered by loved ones as a ‘beautiful soul’.
‘So sad Rest In Peace beautiful lady,’ one friend wrote on Facebook. Â
Another said: ‘May God rest your beautiful soul Marina’.Â
‘So so sad just wish god had saved her,’ a third person wrote.

‘We would like to pass on our condolences to her family and friends.
‘Robbie, we hope you’re well and we are so sorry for your loss.

The couple both worked in the property, with Mr Morgan directing a home renovation construction business while his wife ran a media company specialising in real estate marketing.
