Wow! On Saturday night, Tommy Walsh, 66, shocked Celebrity Pointless viewers with his slimmed-down appearance

Tommy appeared on the celebrity addition of Pointless alongside Tim Key, Alex Horne, Eboni Usoro-Brown, Sharron Davies, Rhea Bailey, Diarmuid Gavin and Natalie Jamieson.

And viewers were quick to take to social media to note how different the gardening expert looks after loosing a significant amount of weight.

One person tweeted: ‘Bl**dy hell, Tommy Walsh has lost loads of weight #pointlesscelebrities.’

Another enthusiastic fan of the show penned: ‘Lovely to see Tommy Walsh back on our screens.’

In March 2022, Tommy revealed he had recovered from throat cancer as he lent his celebrity status to raise the profile of an NHS campaign encouraging cancer checks.

He recalled: ‘went to my GP about an unrelated issue and while I was there, he discovered this lump in my throat that he was a bit concerned about.

‘He said it may be nothing but that he would rather I went and got it checked and, unfortunately, it turned out to be cancerous.

‘I had to go in straight away and have surgery to remove it. I am now fully recovered and even back playing football!

‘If something in your body doesn’t feel right contact your GP practice and book an appointment. Whatever the result, the NHS is here to help.’

Back in 2002, Tommy suffered a breast cancer scare when he found two lumps on his chest.

The father-of-three sought medical advice straight away, and although his doctor said it was probably nothing, Tommy was sent to have the lumps investigated.

The TV builder told The Mirror at the time: ‘I was being a bit of a bloke about the whole thing. I just buried myself in my work and then went along for the day surgery where the lumps were removed under a general anaesthetic.

‘It was only then that it sort of hit me that this could actually be serious and I could have breast cancer, like my relatives.’

Thankfully for Tommy, the test results showed that the lumps were benign, but he confessed it was ‘a bit of a wake-up call.’

Tommy found fame when he joined the BBC television gardening programme Ground Force with Alan Titchmarsh in 1997.
