  • Van then sped off without exchanging details

A GoGet driver has been filmed smashing into two cars on a busy highway before quickly speeding off as other motorists watched on in shock.

The rental van ploughed into the back of a ute that had stopped at an intersection in Newport, in Melbourne‘s south-west.

The ute was then pushed into a silver sedan in front of it, but as the drivers got out, the van instead sped off down the highway without exchanging any details.

Not only was the back of the ute severely damaged, but a chunk of the van was also ripped off during the crash.

Two tradies in a truck behind the van managed to capture the collision on film, which was later shared to popular Instagram page Brown Cardigan.

‘As if he just drove off!’ one of them is heard saying.

‘What the f**k!’

Many commenters on the video noted the driver of the van would likely be hit with a hefty fee from GoGet.

‘When you rent a car by the hour that’s the quality of driver you’re gonna go get,’ one said.

‘Bet he doesn’t leave it filled up with petrol either,’ said another.

GoGet allows drivers to rent a car for a certain period of time but renters are told to contact the company immediately in the event of an accident.

‘Failure to report damage is a serious breach of your agreement with us,’ the company’s policy reads.

‘Failure to report damage that occurs during your booking may result in you not being covered by insurance and your membership may be placed under review.’

GoGet has been contacted for comment.
