George Floyd’s family threaten to SUE Kanye West for saying he died of fentanyl overdose

George Floyd‘s family is considering suing Kanye West after the rapper claimed Floyd was killed by a fentanyl overdose instead of police brutality.

The potential lawsuit was announced on Sunday in a tweet by civil rights activist and attorney Lee Merritt, who said West’s comments about Floyd’s cause of death undermined his family.

He conceded that it is impossible to defame the dead, but hinted that the Floyds were still considering action against West over the slur against George, who was murdered by Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin in May 2020.

Merritt tweeted: ‘While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death,’ he wrote.

‘Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.’

West made the wild claim during an appearance on Revolt TV’s Drinks Champs podcast, and would later in the episode imply Kris Jenner, 66, had sex with Drake, 33, and say ‘Jewish media’ censored an interview of his.

In other parts of the chat, West said ‘Jewish people control the black voice’ and sarcastically stated the ‘Jewish media’ would cancel one of the hosts for saying: ‘F**k Black Lives Matter.’

West, 45, has faced criticism in recent weeks for his bizarre behavior, including introducing a series of shirts branded with ‘White Lives Matter,’ and a number of eyebrow-raising comments that have been widely regarded as anti-Semitic.

West made the claim about Floyd’s death while giving a glowing review of the Candace Owens documentary The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.

‘They hit [Floyd] with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that,’ West said. ‘They said he screamed for his mama; mama was his girlfriend. It’s in the documentary.’

Bizarrely, West goes on to say that Floyd’s death made him think of his ‘friend’ Virgil Abloh, the fashion designer who passed away in November 2021 at 41 following a short battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare, aggressive form of cancer.

Dr. Andrew Baker, Hennepin County’s chief medical examiner, said Floyd died after police ‘subdual, restraint and neck compression’ caused his heart and lungs to stop. He said heart disease and drug use were factors but not the ‘top line’ causes.

West ranted in his Drinks Champs interview: ‘Could you even really run this interview? Because Mav didn’t run my interview. You know what I’m saying? They blocked me out. The Jewish media blocked me out. This s**t lit, right?

‘I’m lit right? I’m lit. JP Morgan, I put $140 million in JP Morgan, and they treated me like s**t. So if JP Morgan Chase is treating me like that, how are they treating the rest of y’all?’

This week, JP Morgan Chase ended its relationship with West, giving him until November 21 to remove his funds from their bank. The bank has not gone into details about the termination.

On Wednesday, it was announced that West’s interview on The Shop, would not air. The show’s co-host, Maverick Carter said in a statement that the reason it was pulled was because West: ‘used to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.’ Carter’s usual co-host, LeBron James, was not present for the taping.

The Life of Pablo rapper also declared that his one-time rival Drake was the ‘greatest rapper ever,’ and from there went on to insinuate that his former mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, had sex with the Canadian artist.

West said: ‘Yeah, that was hard, that was hard… You know it what it mean. Corey knows that it mean.’ The Corey is of course Jenner’s long time boyfriend, Corey Gamble, who West has previously referred to as being ‘Godless.’

During the interview, West also says that: ‘Jewish people have owned the black voice. Whether it’s through us wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt, or it’s all of us being signed to a record label, or having a Jewish manager, or being signed to a Jewish basketball team, or doing a movie on a Jewish platform like Disney.’

He continued: ‘I respect what the Jewish people have done and how they brought their people together. You know they came into money through the lawyers. After Wall Street, when all of the Catholics, they wouldn’t divorce people, so the Jewish people came in they were willing to divorce people and that’s when they came into their money.’

West said that he and other black people are the ‘darker Jews’ as they are part of the 12 lost tribes of Israel. ‘We’re Jewish also. We’re from Africa also. We’re the blood of Christ. We’re not just black,’ he went on.

The rapper said that venture capitalist Ben Horowitz once called him to complain that Jay-Z was giving away ‘Jewish business secrets.’

At one point in the interview, Noreaga took West to task over his wearing of White Lives Matter shirt.

The Queens-born rapper said to West: ‘When you wear the White Lives Matter shirt it kind of takes away from everything from black people because what it is, the same way you wore the confederate flag and we’re like: ‘Damn.”

He went on: ‘And I know you. I f**k with you and you my brother. I love you. So I take this, I’m a real n***a. I’m a real n***a in the streets everyday. But even me I question, why would you try to, I mean even when you said: ‘George Floyd, I can prove that somebody wasn’t on his neck.’ We don’t even care about that Ye.’

West chimed in and said: ‘But we don’t care.’ Noreaga cut back in and said: ‘Let me finish. We black people. We Black Panthers. We f*****g the people that you gotta f**k with. We f**k with you when it was time for you to say that we should f**k with you. We want to continue to follow you. We do.’

The host said: ‘We know White Lives Matter. We know that. But Black Lives Matter when we are getting killed every f*****g single day. We have to notice that.’

Then it was West’s turn again as he told the host: ‘But since that happened we haven’t got killed less we got killed more. We broke more s**t up.’

Noreaga implored West to tell them: ‘We’re really killed out here.’ West responded by saying that t-shirt won’t change that.

When Noreaga says: ‘F**k Black Lives Matter,’ meaning the organization. West says: ‘Don’t say that, you will get canceled by the Jewish media.’

Infamously, West said of the anti-Semitism allegations: ‘The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also. You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.’

This week, the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles invited the Chicago rapper to visit their exhibitions. The museum said in an Instagram post: ‘Words matter and words have consequences Ye. We urge you to come visit us at Holocaust Museum LA to understand just how words can incite horrific violence and genocides.

The post continued: ‘The Holocaust started with only words that sadly begat stereotypes, racial and religious tropes and blaming others and led to the murder of six million Jews.’

According to the American Jewish Council, Jewish people are the targets of 60 percent of religious hate crimes in America despite making up two percent of the population.
