Gemma went on an Instagram Live with a friend named Andie who had a similar experience with frozen accounts.

What is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events.

People with PTSD often suffer nightmares and flashbacks to the traumatic event and can experience insomnia and an inability to concentrate.

Symptoms are often severe enough to have a serious impact on the person’s day-to-day life, and can emerge straight after the traumatic event or years later.

PTSD is thought to affect about one in every three people who have a traumatic experience, and was first documented in the First World War in soldiers with shell shock.

People who are worried they have PTSD should visit their GP, who could recommend a course of psychotherapy or anti-depressants, the NHS say.

Combat Stress operate a 24-hour helpline for veterans, which can be reached on 0800 138 1619.

‘I would have lost my house, in that account I had my life savings, I would have been up s***’s creek,’ she said.

‘I never mentioned it to anyone. I was supposed to go to the financial ombudsman, but my father was dying. I was buying a house, which should have been an amazing experience.

‘I was traumatised, really I’ve suffered PTSD over that experience.’

The bubbly blonde has set up home in a vast five-bedroom property converted from a barn, complete with around an acre of land and four en suite bathrooms.

She also previously revealed her dad was finally on the road to recovery after battling Covid, and was thrilled to learn that her house purchase had finally gone through.

Speaking on her podcast she said: ‘When I took my dad to see the house he absolutely loved it.

‘I told him in the hospital dad the house has all gone through and i just see lights in his eyes.’

She added at the time: I am so excited about it. All in all it has been a positive positive week for me.’

Gemma rose to fame on TOWIE back in 2011 but left the show in 2019.
