Four are shot and several arrested as ‘human smuggling’ operation is busted in Houston

Four people were shot in a human smuggling incident in West Houston, police said.

The individuals were discovered with gunshot wounds at an address associated with a Motel 6 on Sam Houston Parkway South.

Police said they had detained numerous people, though it was unclear whether they were suspects or victims.

The condition of the wounded, and what led to the shooting, remains unclear. 

The Houston Police Department announced the incident in a tweet, and noted that there was no threat to the public.
