Rust prosecutor says she’s ‘committed to justice’ and warns ‘no one is above the law’ – but it is STILL waiting for police report on one year anniversary of fatal shooting by Alec Baldwin

  • Today is the one year anniversary of the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins
  • Despite extensive investigations and unrelenting interest in the case, the sheriff’s department is yet to conclude its own probe
  • Santa Fe DA Mary Cormack-Altwies says her hands are tied until then
  • She warned on Friday however that she is committed to the investigation and is prepared to charge Baldwin if the law requires her to
  • Baldwin insists it was an accident, that the gun fired on its own after someone else illegally loaded it with a live round instead of blank and handed it to him
  • DailyMail.com’s full recap of the investigation to date can be found here

The prosecutor tasked with bringing charges in Alec Baldwin‘s fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last year said on Friday she was ‘committed’ to pursuing justice for the victims and warned: ‘No one is above the law’.

Today marks the one year anniversary of Hutchins’ death. She was shot dead by Baldwin in a fatal on-set accident.

No one has been charged or even arrested in her killing despite a year of legal back and forth, public feuding and lawsuits.

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies on Friday told DailyMail.com in a statement that she is still waiting for the sheriff’s report into the shooting.

Only when she has that can she make a decision, but she issued the ominous warning: ‘No one is above the law.’

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies on Friday told DailyMail.com in a statement that she is still waiting for the sheriff’s report into the shooting and warned: ‘No one is above the law’. Baldwin is shown, right, last week

‘On the anniversary of the tragedy on the Rust film set in Santa Fe County, District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altweis remains committed to pursuing justice for the victims, and getting answers for the community.

‘As soon as the District Attorney receives the full report from the Santa Fe County Sheriff, she and her team of professional attorneys and investigators will thoroughly review all the evidence and make a thoughtful decision about whether to bring charges against those involved.

‘No one is above the law and every victim deserves justice.’

Baldwin, who maintains it was an accident but not one that he was responsible for, has not commented.

He insists that he did not pull the trigger, claiming instead that the faulty gun was tragically loaded with live rounds instead of bullets and that it fired on its own.

The sheriff’s department is yet to release its report, and it’s unclear what the hold up is.

Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was 24 at the time and became a quick scapegoat, says she isn’t to blame either.

Meanwhile Hutchins’ widower, Matthew, has dropped a lawsuit against Baldwin and the film’s production.

He had sued them for wrongful death, but backed out of it after reaching a secret settlement.

While the terms of that settlement have not been made public, he will now serve as a producer on the movie once it resumes production.

None of the other parties have commented on the anniversary.

Baldwin and his wife Hilaria recent welcomed their seventh child – a baby girl.

Hilaria was seen leaving their Manhattan apartment yesterday with the youngest child.

After the shooting last year, they decamped to Vermont with their children. The family has since listed their Hamptons home for sale.
