When asked if she would like to work with her ex again, Pugh responded: ‘I hope so. It was a blast. We had a lot of fun and we created something that we’re very, very proud of.

‘The people that were involved in this movie, we made this family and we made this work and it came from our souls, so I can only wish that we have this experience again.’

Braff would also be game as he added: ‘I would love to. We just really are a good team.’

The Garden State actor revealed that both their dating and working lives were collaborative processes as their relationship grew during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

He explained: ‘We were in lockdown together and we were constantly talking over dinner, over everything, we would just banter back and forth… She was always very supportive.

‘She was never like, “Why are you doing that?” She was like, “Oh, well, tell me more about it.” It made sense to bring her on as a producer because she was giving me notes and thoughts that were very valuable.’

Braff even revealed that his ex-girlfriend was the one who had come up with the idea for her character to cut her hair live on camera for the film,

Pugh explained: ‘I was very much in the blueprint of the creation of the movie, and so it felt that when I finally was able to read the script — which he didn’t let me read the script until it was completed — that I knew who she was.

‘I didn’t need to do a deep dive on who she was. I knew who she was. I’d helped with her being created. She was written with my voice in mind. I cut so many corners. It was like I was a part of her from the beginning, because I was. It just made tackling Allison and that bit easier and meant that all I had to do was breathe life into her and figure out how I wanted to approach her.’

The pleasantries have not stopped between the two as on Tuesday Florence took to Instagram to gush over her ex over their movie.

The Don’t Worry Darling actress, 27, shared a slew of behind-the-scenes photos from filming the movie, including a few of Braff, 47 – who she dated for three years before revealing their breakup in August.

In the caption of the post, she talked about the importance of the film to her and shouted out several members of the cast and crew to marvel over their brilliance.

Towards the end, she singled out Braff and said: ‘This movie was written in the pandemic by the fantastic @zachbraff. A movie that was made from our souls and we were lucky enough to have some f*****g talented people trust and follow us.’

She posed for a photo with the Garden State actor alongside actors Celeste O’Connor and Chinaza Uche.

Zach had his arms around the three stars, and his head positioned right above Florence’s as they all looked up and smiled at the camera.

The Little Women actress also shared more photos of Zach as he took on the role of director for the film.

In one photo, he stood with Morgan Freeman as the two laughed at something on his phone.

There was also a picture from one of the camera monitors of the writer/director working out a scene with O’Connor.

Florence included several of herself around the set. One of which showed her laying on the floor, cuddled up with one of her dogs.

The film follows Allison (Pugh), whose world crumbles in the blink of an eye when she survives an unimaginable tragedy, emerging from recovery with opioid addiction and unresolved grief.

Eventually, she forms an unlikely friendship with her would-be father-in-law (Morgan Freeman), which gives her a fighting chance to put her life back together and move forward.

Despite the Lady Macbeth actress and the Scrubs actor’s recent separation, there seemed to be no ill feelings from either party.

On Saturday, Braff met up with Pugh’s parents and grandmother for dinner in New York City, but the beauty was nowhere to be seen.

They have also been very cordial during photo ops at several screenings of their film.

Since the breakup, the star has seemingly moved on to a relationship with Charlie Gooch, whom she reportedly went to school with in the U.K.

The actress confirmed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she and the filmmaker went their separate ways in 2022.

The pair worked to keep their relationship out of the public eye, with Florence saying they wanted to break up in private.

She said: ‘We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on.

‘We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it.’

A Good Person is in cinemas from 24 March and on Sky Cinema from 28 April.
