Five people – including a young girl – are shot at Mardi Gras Bacchus parade in New Orleans: Cops detain suspect

Five people – including a young girl – were shot at the Mardi Gras Bacchus parade in New Orleans on Sunday evening. 

One person in connection to the shooting was detained by police at the scene, New Orleans police said in a press conference. 

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of St. Charles and Terpsichore streets.

Three males and two females were shot. One of the victims was a young girl, police said. All five victims were rushed to a local hospital. 

Police said one of the victims is in critical condition. The girl is considered to be stable. The conditions of the others are not yet known.

Two guns were recovered from the scene, police said.
