EXCLUSIVE: ‘My dad comes off stage, puts his slippers on and makes puzzles’: Zoe Ball and Fatboy Slim’s son Woody Cook, 21, insists his parents are ‘normal people’ as he discusses life growing up

Zoe Ball and Fatboy Slim’s son Woody Cook has insisted his famous parents are ‘normal people’, as he discussed life growing up.

While his DJ father once admitted to being a ‘drugged-up lunatic’ during his 1990s heyday, his offspring, 21, remembers the mellowed Grammy-winner putting on a pair of slippers and getting stuck into a jigsaw puzzle following his sold-out gigs.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Woody said: ‘It sounds like there was more alienation than there actually was was. I’ve always been a normal person, hang out with normal people, and my parents are two normal people.

‘I think a lot of people have this idea of this different life that you live… I mean, it’s like, you know, for me growing up, the only thing I knew was different was my parents would be out working a lot.

‘And that’s the only thing I could put the put the notion on. I was like… well, I am like everyone else and I always have been.’

Woody – who appeared on the Channel 4 reality show, The Circle, in 2019 – added that viewers realised he was ‘just your average person’ after seeing him on screen.

He continued: ‘So I think like growing up with it, it wasn’t a thing for me and I don’t think it is a thing. I mean sometimes people go, “Oh you’re you’re so-and-so’s son, what’s that like?”

‘I’m like, “Well they’re just… they’re just my parents at the end of the day, you know, my dad goes off stage and puts his slippers on and makes puzzles.”‘

Years before Woody was born in 2000, Fatboy Slim – real name, Norman Cook – was a fixture on the London nightclub scene, telling Square Mile in 2020: ‘I was a drugged-up lunatic in the 1990s.’

Woody recently headlined a London bike rave, Tour de Dance, on November 9 to celebrate an increase in Brits commuting on two wheels.

Teaming up with cycling subscription brand Swapfiets, Woody played a DJ set on two wheels and led Londoners on a party around the city to see it in a new, festive light.

He said: ‘Cycling allows you to explore the city more, finding new bars, clubs and restaurants you may have never discovered. And with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly, it’s the perfect way to get about.

‘Leading Tour de Dance is definitely a unique experience for me, one that will provide me with a unique space to play a high energy set full of heavy beats, keeping the crowd pumping through the streets of London.’
