While Kate Middleton revealed her unusual love of kidneys earlier this week, her children have a much more conventional taste in food.
Over the years, the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a number of anecdotes about their diet of their young brood, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.
And whether it’s homemade pizzas or vegetable curries with a kick, it’s clear that the trio are spoilt for choice when come home from school.
While Prince William has said that he’s not a natural in the kitchen, over the years Kate has shared with others what her family enjoys eating when they cook together.
Here FEMAIL reveals what the family tend to eat…
On a visit to a school, Kate revealed that her children love having an apple and some cereal for their breakfast. Pictured: George, Louis and Charlotte decorating cupcakes with their mother Kate for a Platinum Jubilee street party
FRUIT AND CEREAL FOR BREAKFAST
When Kate Kate visited LEYF (London Early Years Foundation) Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school in London in January 2020, the Princess spilled the beans about what her children eat for breakfast.
School manager Michelle Samuels told today.com: ‘She mentioned to the children that her own children enjoy apples and cereal in the morning, which sparked a conversation with the children about their own preference of fruits.’
HOMEMADE CHEESY PASTA…
During a visit to Lavender Primary School, Kate told told the children that she frequently gets her two eldest children to cook with her – including their favourite ‘cheesy pasta’.
She explained how each of the children have a little role in the process – ‘one stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in’.
Speaking afterwards, Matthew Kleiner-Mann, chief executive of the the Ivy Learning Trust, said: ‘She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her. They made cheesy pasta the other day.
‘One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in, and they make salads and stuff.
‘Food is important to her and she understands the links between mental health and physical exercise.’
…AND CARBONARA
Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli revealed in 2020 Prince George’s favourite food – the Mediterranean classic, spaghetti carbonara.
Italian born Aldo, 67, who now lives in Surrey and is an ambassador for the youth homeless charity Centrepoint, told how he’s had a number of encounters with Prince William, 41, who is patron of the organisation.
During their chats over the years, Aldo told how Prince William talked animatedly about his three children – and revealed George’s meal of choice.
‘[William’s] amazing – I’m waiting for the call because apparently his little boy’s favourite is spaghetti carbonara, so I’m waiting for the call to go and cook it for him,’ Aldo told FEMAIL.
‘[William] is an absolute gent. He’ll come over to you, speak to you about – he knows everything about everyone. That’s what I like about people like that, before they come over to you they make sure they know who you are and what you do for a living, it’s a very intelligent thing to do.
‘He’s such a great, great guy, I’m a big fan of the Royal Family.’
Cheeky Aldo added: ‘If George has my carbonara, he will never have another one, so I need to go and make it, let’s get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook!’
CURRIES
Kate revealed that Charlotte loves eating olives – a classic Mediterranean snack and cheesy pasta
Kate previously revealed that she enjoys making curries – especially vegetable ones.
And although the Princess may be able to handle her spice, she said she has to tone down the spice level for her husband, Prince William.
The Princess of Wales said that her daughter, Charlotte, also likes enjoys the Asian dish.
She told Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, before their tour of Pakistan in 2019 that she has to dial down the spiciness for George and Louis but said: ‘Charlotte is pretty good with heat.’
FRESHLY GROWN VEGETABLES
The Princess of Wales is known for her love of a nutritious and vitamin-rich lifestyle with her healthy hair and glowing skin.
So it comes as little surprise that she has encouraged her children to eat a similarly healthy diet over the years.
The Princess of Wales previously revealed that her children enjoy eating their five-a-day.
Speaking to Mary Berry on A Berry Royal Christmas, she said: ‘We grow our own vegetables, We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot, a massive favourite, Louis absolutely loves beetroot.’
Princess Charlotte is also said to be a fan of Charlotte potatoes – likely due to their shared name – as well as olives.
When speaking to pupils at the Lavender Primary School in north London in 2019, Kate said that her only daughter – Princess Charlotte – love munching on a classic Mediterranean snack – olives.
‘Charlotte loves olives,’ she said.
FRESH PIZZA
Everyone loves pizza for dinner, even the thought of tomato, dough, basil and mozzarella dancing on your tastebuds is enough to make anyone’s stomach rumble.
But the royal household does not stick a frozen pizza in the oven or order from their local takeaway, they make it from scratch.
When preparing food at the St. Luke’s Community Centre for the Commonwealth Big Lunch event in London, Kate said that George, Charlotte and Louis’ favourite dish is pizza.
Kate said: ‘I’ve done that with George and Charlotte, making pizza dough.
‘They love it because they can get their hands messy.’
TASTY TREATS
The children have a favourite dish – homemade pizza. They enjoy making the dough from scratch
Last year, the royal Wales children joined their mother Kate in baking cakes for a Cardiff street party, which took place to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Adorable pictures posted online by the then-Duchess and Duke, showed Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, making the treats in their kitchen.
The snap caption read: ‘Baking cakes for the local community in Cardiff to enjoy at a Platinum Jubilee street party taking place today! We hope you like them!’
In the photos, the three children could be seen mixing the ingredients together before icing the cupcakes with the Duchess.
Union Jack bunting could be seen hanging around the kitchen, while Charlotte was busy cracking eggs and Louis used a sieve to add in the flour to the cake mix.
George, meanwhile, could be seen helping his sister add in the ingredients.
