EMILY PRESCOTT: Council estate boy Joe Wicks joins the Chipping Norton set after spending £2.9 million on a Cotswolds home
He grew up on a council estate, but now fitness guru Joe Wicks has joined the elite Chipping Norton country set after buying a charming £2.9 million Cotswolds home.
The four-bedroom house is the latest addition to the burgeoning property empire Joe has built up since star-jumping to fame with his online keep-fit exercises during lockdown.
The 37-year-old also has a beach house in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and a £4 million family home in a star-studded area of Virginia Water in Surrey.
His new property – set in two acres of orchards and wildflower meadows, with the River Swere meandering through the grounds – is in a similar celebrity enclave. Soho Farmhouse is just a short drive away and his neighbours now include the Beckhams, Jeremy Clarkson, Amanda Holden and Claudia Winkleman.
Aptly enough, the house has a fully kitted-out, air-conditioned gym – complete with wooden gymnastic rings dangling from the rafters – as well as a home office, spa room, boot room and snug, plus a kitchen complete with obligatory Aga. There’s even a two-bedroom guest cottage in the grounds.

Obviously the property has its own gym which is necessary for the celebrity fitness guru
The couple also have planning permission for a double-height extension to the rear, including a new open plan kitchen and glass doors opening out into the garden
Wicks and his wife Rosie, 32, also have planning permission for a double-height extension to include an open-plan kitchen, with glass doors leading directly out to the garden. And there are plans for a gravel courtyard with parking.
The house is done up in the fashionable, muted Soho House style, with neutral tones and elegant modern fixtures.
The father-of-three was raised by his dad Gary, a roofer, and mum Raquela, a social worker. He first found fame posting 15-second recipe videos online before becoming a social media superstar with his record-breaking PE With Joe videos on YouTube.
He was made an MBE in 2020.
