Yvonne, who portrays the character of Serena Joy in the series, recently opened up about The Handmaid’s Tale season finale ending when interviewing on the People Every Day podcast.

When discussing on what fans could possibly expect about the upcoming episode, the star revealed, ‘I just don’t think there was a happy ending.’

She further explained by adding, ‘That’s why I love and respect the writers so much. Look at this season, the most obvious thing would’ve been let’s make Serena a handmaid.’

‘And that would be just, so cool to have that kind of revenge. But, that would be too obvious.’

The Handmaid’s Tale will have a sixth and final season, and Elisabeth gave her own perspective about the show’s end on Good Morning America.

‘We’ve known there was an end in sight for a little bit, you know,’ she expressed, adding that showrunner, Bruce Miller, and her have talked, ‘about how it’s June’s story, but it’s also just a slice of her life.’

‘So we’re not going to tell the entire story of everything that happens in Gilead,’ she also stated.

The anticipated finale of the fifth season will officially premiere on Hulu on November 9.
