Elderly naturist seeks secluded garden to roam NAKED with wife (who keeps her clothes on): Retired accountant, 86, wants to rent outdoor space closer to home… after finding 100-mile trip to nudist camp too tiring

  • Stuart Haywood, 86, found the hobby in 2008 at a life drawing class, aged 72
  • He and his wife Rhona, 91, have been travelling to a naturist resort ever since
  • But the 100-mile journey is ‘arduous’ and he wants somewhere closer to home
  • Mr Haywood said he can repay in money, as well as gardening tips for roses

An 86-year-old naturist from South Derbyshire is looking to rent someone’s garden for a few hours a week so he can strip off in peace as the 100-mile journey to his favourite nudist resort is becoming too much.

Stuart Haywood, from Midway, only started taking his clothes off at the age of 72 in 2008, having previously only ever been naked in front of his wife for more than 50 years.

He quickly developed a taste for going nude, although his wife Rhona, 91, has not joined him in the hobby, but is happy to be surrounded by other naturists.

The retired accountant and greengrocer first started stripping off when he attended a life drawing class in Swadlincote in 2008.

Seeing the model, he thought: ‘I can do that’ –  and has never looked back.

Mr and Mrs Haywood have since been visiting Lakeside Farm Naturist Holidays, near Skegness, in Lincolnshire two weeks a year.

They even renewed their wedding vows there. And at the ceremony the even the vicar was naked, said Mr Haywood.

He described how he feels when pursuing his naturist interest: ‘I have a lift in spirits when I take my clothes off. It is a sense of freedom. You’re never too old to be naked.’

But the couple are now finding the travel to Skegness ‘arduous’ and would prefer to stay closer to home.

His own garden is not suitable for his hobby as people can see him.

He said he is hoping to use someone else’s – and will pay a fee and offer gardening tips in return.

He said: ‘It is with great regret that Rhona and I will not be returning to Lakeside Naturist resort this year.

‘We both find the travel and paraphernalia of preparing too arduous. We are 91 and 86.

‘Rhona is not a naturist but I would like to find someone with a secluded garden who would allow me access to it for a few hours per week to allow me to follow my interest.

‘In return I am willing to share my knowledge of gardening, roses in particular, and local history, sports history and anything which may be interesting to the garden owners.

‘We could come to some arrangement regarding monetary costs.’

Mr Haywood said he is never naked at home: ‘Where we live we live in a bungalow with houses all around us and a pathway right near our window.

‘Our garden is also surrounded by houses so I think when I go to Lakeside it just enhances my enjoyment.

‘I have a lift in spirits when I take my clothes off. It is a sense of freedom. You’re never too old to be naked and should never be ashamed of your body.’

But he added he would never want to cause offence to others who not share his passion for naturism.
