Off yer bike! Eddie Redmayne, 41, is forced to dismount during lunchtime cycle and ask a passerby for directions after getting LOST in Notting Hill

Even after years as a globetrotting celebrity, it seems that Eddie Redmayne is still capable of getting lost in his backyard.

The London-born actor was spotted apparently asking for directions during a lunchtime cycle in the capitalā€™s Notting Hill area last Wednesday.

And, as our pictures show, he was lucky enough to find a friendly passer-by who was happy to help.

One onlooker said: ā€˜He seemed to be slightly unsure about where exactly he was going.

ā€˜But after a quick chat with a woman who was passing by, he jumped back on his bike and pedalled off towards Portobello Road.ā€™

Redmayne, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything, previously topped a list of Britainā€™s 50 best-dressed men in GQ magazine and has also been credited for his sense of style by Vanity Fair.

But he looked rather less sharp than usual among the fashionable Notting Hill throng in his padded jacket and ill-fitting jeans.

The 41-year-old, who was educated at Eton before studying for a degree in Art History at Cambridge, made his professional stage debut in a 2002 production of Shakespeareā€™s Twelfth Night. His screen credits include the Fantastic Beasts series, a Harry Potter spin-off.

Father-of-two Redmayne won an Olivier award last year for his role as the Emcee in the latest West End production of the musical Cabaret.
