A boy who allegedly attempted to help the teenager who was fatally stabbed in a massive brawl at Sydney’s Easter Show has pleaded guilty to two serious charges.

Uati ‘Pele‘ Faletolu, 17, was working on the Break Dance ride at Sydney Showground on Monday night when he was fatally knifed in the chest during a vicious brawl, with police still hunting for the killer.

Officers arrested the 15-year-old at the scene in April after he was found in possession of a 10cm folding knife, with the boy shouting ‘six, seven, motherf***er’ while being handcuffed – believed to be a reference to postcode gangs.

He was charged him with carrying a knife in a public place, affray and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

On Tuesday, the boy’s case was heard briefly at Parramatta Children’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the first two charges but denied the third, according to reporting from the ABC.

Easter Show stabbing: Knife-wielding teen pleads guilty to role in deadly Sydney Easter Show brawl

A 15-year-old relative who allegedly attempted to help the teenager who was fatally stabbed in a massive brawl at Sydney’s Easter Show has pleaded guilty to two serious charges

The 15-year-old was excused from appearing at the court, but was released on bail under strict conditions.

It’s alleged the boy was coming to the aid of Uati, who was being attacked outside the ride where he worked.

In a previous hearing, the court heard the teenager had allegedly pulled a 10cm knife and chased three unknown men after learning Uati had been stabbed.

NSW Police do not believe he was responsible for the fatal stabbing and are still looking for those responsible. It also remains unclear if the victim was involved in the reported gang activity or if he was simply caught up in the melee.

In a video of the arrest, the teenager yelled ‘six, seven, motherf**ker’ as police officers secured his handcuffs.

The words have fuelled suspicions the stabbing was part of a postcode rivalry between two groups, 67 from Doonside and 27 from Mount Druitt.

The groups are named after their respective postcodes 2767, and 2770.

The case has been adjourned until June 21.

Meanwhile, detectives are still looking for the killer of the 17-year-old despite trawling through hours of CCTV footage from the day of Uati’s death.

Uati’s shattered family and pregnant girlfriend Taylor Piliae remained tight-lipped about the tragedy in the days following his death, but the teenager’s mother Janice Faletolu finally broke her silence on Sunday.

‘Uati was a happy, outgoing young man with a loving heart. He was a loyal friend, a caring brother, and a selfless son and partner,’ a family friend told the Daily Telegraph on Ms Faletolu’s behalf.

‘Even with the tragic circumstances surrounding Uati’s passing, we as a family do not want Uati remembered as a victim but to use this time to honour and celebrate the beautiful person that he was.’

She thanked friends and the community for sending heartfelt messages, flowers, food, and offering financial support.

‘We are truly grateful for the generosity and kindness shown. The support has been a true blessing and has lightened the burden for us as we grieve our beloved Uati,’ she said.

‘Uati, we miss you so much and your loss is deeply felt. We are so proud of the young man you became and we will cherish every memory we have with you always. We LOVE you Uati.’

Members of the two groups reportedly had an altercation near the adult section of the show about 8pm before it descended into an all-out brawl.

Mr Faletolu was from Doonside, with his friends reportedly telling police that those responsible for this death were from Mt Druitt.

Members of a Druitt group named OneFour have been pictured making a ’27’ hand gesture to represent their postcode.

Superintendent Danielle Emerton, from the Auburn Police Area Command, could not rule out the possibility the fight had been fuelled by postcode wars.

Instead, she suggested it could have been a ‘planned confrontation’ between the groups.

‘We’re trying to piece it together. It’s a tragic, senseless act. This is a family event and the fact that someone has bought a knife into the show is upsetting,’ she said.

‘There were two groups involved in the affray incident where there was a knife involved. So we are looking at additional people that were involved in last night’s attack.

‘Someone knows who has done this.’

Investigators believe the two groups of men were known to each other, assuring the public it was not a ‘random attack’.

He was on his break midway through his shift when he reportedly went to meet some friends, including his younger brother, who were attending the show.

Just a day before his death, the victim shared a video at work pouting at the camera with the caption: ‘When you wish ur gf worked at the Easter Show again with u’.

Footage continues to circulate on social media that shows two men brawling in the middle of the family-friendly carnival.

The taller of the pair tried to send his knee into the other’s head as he was driven backwards before landing a series of punches in his abdomen.

The smaller man retaliated by driving him backwards into a set of garbage bins before the taller man was joined by another who also began to swing his fists.
