TMZ reported that the 27-year-old music artist was targeted by an angry fan after she kicked him out of a private chat online.

After being removed from the digital space, he later returned, threatened to kill the star, and ‘claimed he would see her soon,’ writes TMZ.

Doja — real name Amalia Dlamini — called the police and filed a report, sparking a formal investigation.

The outlet reported that the unnamed male fan lives outside the state of California, where Doja resides. 

The Say So hitmaker is known for having a playful relationship with her listeners, often engaging with them on Twitter and Instagram.

Earlier this year she clashed with fans in Paraguay after receiving backlash for a canceling a show due to dangerous weather.

It happened in March and she took to Twitter to write that she was ‘quitting’ music.

At the time, she changed her handle on the platform to ‘i quit’ and tweeted, ‘This s*** ain’t for me so I’m out. Y’all take care.’

In one since-deleted post from that time, she noted ‘There was a storm in Paraguay, the show got canceled. 

‘When I left the next morning, there wasn’t one person outside the hotel waiting for me,’ she added, indicating she expected her fans to be there.

Days later she reemerged on the app to apologize and change her tune as she reflected on her success and privilege.

‘I can travel, I can eat good food, I can see new people, I can smile, I can make memories that I dreamed of having,’ she typed.

The sometimes controversial entertainer continued, ‘I can laugh, I can support my family and my friends, I can learn about the world, and I can give back to everyone because of you.’
