Armie Hamer’s estranged wife has revealed she found out about his allegations of sexual assault and violent cannibalism fantasies at the same time as the rest of the world as she compares her heartbreak to heroin addiction.
Elizabeth Chambers, 40, broke her silence for the first time today over her ill-fated marriage to the disgraced movie star as she divulged it was lockdown that tore their relationship apart not Hammer’s infidelity.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, she also said she is worried about how it will affect their children, asking: ‘Do I want my son to become this? Would I want my daughter to stay in a relationship like this?’
But the TV personality and baker chain owner revealed she is now in a new relationship which was helping to heal her ‘body, heart and mind’ after Hammer.
Hammer, 36, has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault, emotional manipulation and of having violent kink fantasies involving cannibalism.
Elizabeth Chambers, 40, breaks her silence on her ten-year marriage to Armie Hammer in an interview with Elle Magazine
The Social Network star broke his own silence at the weekend to admit he was an ‘a**hole’, revealing he was molested by a pastor when he was 13.
Now his ex-wife Chambers, who filed for divorce in 2020, has weighed in on the allegations as she said: ‘I was learning things as the public was. I was like, ‘There are no words. What the f***?’
She added: ‘ The last thing I ever want to do is let someone else’s actions, which have nothing to do with me, make me angry.
‘It’s not going to help me, and it’s not going to help anyone around me.’
Chambers and Hammer were introduced through mutual friends in 2007 before marrying in 2010.
At the time she was an anchor and correspondent at Al Gore’s now-defunct Current TV, covering immigration and environmental issues.,
They share Daughter Harper, who was born in 2014, and son Ford, born in 2016.
She said the controversial headlines surrounding their father was ‘all way too much for two children under eight.’
Chambers, who runs Bird Bakery, paints a picture of a strained marriage during the interview, revealing they once attended a dinner party together and did not talk to one another.
Their relationship was also mired by allegations of infidelity. Hammer has admitted to having an affair with a woman he met on social media in 2016.
The TV personality in her own right said she learned the news of Hammer’s allegations at the same time as the rest of the world, adding ‘what the fuck?’
Chambers revealed she and Hammer were in couples’ therapy for much of their marriage
She said the pair sought the help of famous couples’ therapist Esther Perel who told her ‘heartbreak is literally worse than heroin addiction.’
When asked of Hammer’s sexual fantasies, Chambers declined to comment, simply saying ‘boundaries are everything.’
She added: ‘Your partner is learning things about themselves. They’re growing, you’re growing, you hope that you’re growing together.’

The nail in the coffin of their relationship came during the pandemic, she said, after Hammer left their family during quarantine.
In 2020, the couple were in a boat trip in St Barts and were intending to return home to L.A. when Covid cases started spiking.
Instead they travelled to the Cayman islands to quarantine with Hammer’s father and stepmother, Misty, along with their own children.
Hammer had previously described the situation as ‘very complicated’ and ‘intense’ due to the presence of ‘big personalities all locked in a little tiny place.’
Reflecting on the period now, Chambers told Elle: ‘He was the worst.’
Hammer then decided to leave his wife and kids in the Caymans and head back to California where he helped a friend to restore an old motel near Joshua Tree National Park.
The family posted frequently together on Instagram
Chambers said she is concerned by how Hammer’s behavior will affect their children, asking ‘Do I want my son to become this?’
Chambers said the move broke her heart ‘into nine million pieces,’ adding ‘I still drove him to the airport.’
She filed for divorce in July that year.
She told the magazine: ‘You can give, you can love, you can be there for someone but you also need to hold people accountable for their actions.’
She added that the thought of her family breaking up was her ‘biggest fear.’
‘You’re building something, right?’ she said.
‘You’re weaving a beautiful tapestry, and the last thing you want is for a knife to come and rip the tapestry in half.’
Chambers has now moved on with a 26-year-old European boyfriend who she claimed is helping to ‘heal my body, my heart and my mind.’
However her sister Catherine, who also spoke to Elle, denied Chambers has ‘fully healed’ from her relationship with Hammer.
‘She is really happy—blissfully happy, in many ways—but this will always be something she’ll have to address,’ she said.
‘She’s got this darkness that’s basically tagging along and tapping her on the shoulder every once in a while.
‘It’s like, ‘Oh, wait. We’ve got to remind everybody that this happened to you and caused damage in your life.’
It comes after Hammer gave an explosive interview to Air Mail about the accusations against him, telling the magazine he was not a criminal.
However he did admit to being an ‘a**hole’ adding he ‘one million percent’ emotionally abused younger women.
The shamed star has been heard from and rarely seen since a woman named Effie, 26, accused him in 2021 of having ‘violently raped’ her.
This led to a series of accusations by women involving his interest in kinky sex and even cannibalism.
He has denied the accusations through his attorney and said all of his sexual encounters were ‘completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance and mutually participatory’.
He now claims he is a victim of cancel culture and is planning to stage a comeback.
‘I’m now a healthier, happier, more balanced person,’ he told Air Mail.
‘I’m able to be there for my kids in a way I never was. I’m able to be there for my dad as he’s dying in a way that I would have never been able to be. I’m truly grateful for my life and my recovery and everything. I would not go back and undo everything that’s happened to me.’
Hammer, who first came to viewers attention in The Social Network before going on to be nominated for a Golden Globe in Call Me By Your Name, gave the interview because he wants to ‘own my mistakes’ but also say that he doesn’t regret having been publicly shamed.
He also revealed how the allegations had left him suicidal.
‘I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark,’ he said.
However one of his alleged victim’s hit back claiming he is still being ‘manipulative’ and was trying to ‘evoke sympathy.’
Effie Angelova, 26, had accused the 36-year-old actor in 2021 of having ‘violently raped’ her.
Soon after, several other women came forward and accused Hammer of being interested in kinky sex and even cannibalism.
In her Instagram Story Monday night, Efrosina Angelova, ‘Effie,’ told how Hammer’s abuse ‘had affected not only me, but my family.’
She has previously claimed that Hammer ‘repeatedly slammed her head against a wall,’ leaving her with bruises to her face.
