They may be mother and daughter, but Australian music veterans Marcia and Deni Hines are no longer playing happy families.

Deni, 51, was participating in a live Q&A on TikTok when she snapped at a fan who asked about her mother, 68, amid rumours of a bitter family feud.

During the chat, the singer revealed she was now living in Asia and had no plans to return to Sydney due to Australia’s skyrocketing inflation and cost of living.

‘I have no intention of returning to Sydney unless I go to make money. I want to live my life. I want to enjoy my life,’ she told Daily Mail Australia during the live Q&A.

‘I don’t want to chase my ass paying off a mortgage or struggling,’ Deni explained.

‘I like to eat organically. I like to eat good food. I don’t buy s**t food. Well, that’s expensive. That’s really expensive.’

Things then took a turn when a fan asked Deni how she felt about leaving her mother behind in Australia.

‘What about my mum? Somebody help me out here before I f**king turn,’ she snapped before taking a moment to breathe.

‘There are things you just don’t ask me as 51-year-old woman.

‘Don’t f**king ask me about my mother because you don’t give a f**k, and you don’t know her. She ain’t your mother and you don’t really care.’

Woman’s Day reported last year that Deni and her mother had ‘fallen out big time’ and she’d been confiding in her Dancing with the Stars castmates about their rift.

‘There has long been underlying tensions between them, but that’s quite common for a lot of mother-daughter relationships,’ a insider told the magazine.

‘Deni has never liked Marcia’s input on her career, and that’s always put a strain on things.’

While fans may be shocked to learn of the family feud, cracks began to show in 2019 when Marcia revealed she hadn’t watched her daughter’s performance on The Masked Singer.

Marcia said she had no idea Deni was going to be on the Channel 10 show and also had no plans to watch her performance because reality TV ‘is not my thing’ – despite appearing as a judge on Australian Idol between 2003 and 2009

The mother and daughter haven’t posted much about each other on Instagram since their 2018 trip to Thailand.

Marcia said, 'I don't watch reality television. Not my thing. I didn't know she was in it because she wasn't allowed to tell me she was in it, it was part of the contract'. (Pictured in 2019)
