Democrat Katie Hobbs to be the next governor of Arizona, defeating Trump-endorsed former TV anchor Kari Lake and flipping the state for Dems

Democrat Katie Hobbs will be the next governor of Arizona after she toppled Republican Kari Lake.

Hobbs who is Arizona’s current secretary of state managed to clinch victory over Lake, a former television news anchor and loyal ally of former President Donald Trump.

Hobbs won 50.4% of the votes cast in what was a razor thin race out of roughly 2.5 million votes counted almost one week on from Election Day.

Hobbs will replace outgoing Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, a Republican who has served since 2015.
