Ranvir Singh has said people are too ‘obsessed’ with age gaps as she revealed she is ‘blissfully happy’ with her toyboy partner.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 45, has been dating Louis Church, who is 18 years her junior, since September 2020 after meeting behind-the-scenes during her stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

‘I knew Louis was special the minute he walked in… He has instinctively known exactly what I need… I don’t see an age gap,’ she told Woman and Home in a new interview.

‘What really matters in any kind of relationship in life is a synchronicity of values and emotions. I don’t know why we’re so obsessed with the age gap.’

Ranvir continued: ‘As we are, right now, we are blissfully happy and Louis lives very much in the present.’

She said the pair ‘don’t bring undue pressure’ into their joy because ‘it’s not worth ruining the present by thinking about a wealth of different scenarios that might or might not happen’.

The presenter, who has son Tushaan with her ex-husband Ranjeet Singh, also opened up about her battles with weight, claiming she didn’t ‘feel happier’ when she was a size 8.

Ranvir revealed: ‘I feel 100% happier now, and looking after myself is more about health and not needing to be the thinnest person that I can be.

‘When I reached 42, the age my dad died, I had a horrible realisation of how young he was. I thought, “I’ve got to be more aware of my health because heart attacks can be hereditary.”

‘Part of the transition to ease off five 3am alarm calls a week was partly to do with the long term bigger picture, to have a healthy long life.’

But despite finding happiness, Ms Singh said she is frequently faced with negative comments from viewers.

‘Success in broadcasting also means people will want to say negative things,’ she said.

‘People have said things to me about my weight, going “you look much thinner on the telly”. I was once drying my hands in a public toilet and a woman said, “My husband hates you. I think you’re all right.” You can’t really avoid that.’

Ranvir and Louis first met when he worked as a production secretary on last year’s Strictly, in which she competed with Giovanni Pernice.

The journalist confirmed her new romance in December, gushing: ‘I’m really happy’.

The pair reportedly attended Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard alongside Tushaan, and Louis’ aunt’s wedding together.

As well as Strictly, Louis has worked as a runner for Soccer Aid and First Dates Hotel.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Ranvir and Louis have been dating for a few months and are totally in love, she has met his family and went to his aunt’s wedding with him last week. And it’s obvious Louis has taken a real shine to Tushaan.

‘They’ve kept their romance out of the spotlight but when Ranvir was invited to go to the music event at O2 she wanted to go with Louis and her son.

‘They both are clearly madly in love and were holding hands nearly all day. They have incredible chemistry. Ranvir was beaming with happiness as she watched Louis and Tushaan together.’

The insider went on to say how Louis ‘looked really proud’ as Ranvir posed for photographs with fans and ‘seemed like a really happy family unit’.

Ranvir joined Daybreak, the predecessor to Good Morning Britain, in September 2021 after leaving her radio and TV presenting job at the BBC.

She worked as the show’s political editor until 2021 when she suffered from burn out and eventually swapped the role for a regular host, as well as covering for Lorraine Kelly on her morning show.

She also presents ITV gameshow Ridiculous, but has faced criticism from some viewers over her presenting style.

‘When Riddiculous first went out, some said the way I said “well done” was patronising,’ she said.

‘I was learning a new trade in how to do quiz shows. I put complaints into perspective, though. Look at the problems that women all over the world have to face.’

The May issue of Woman & Home is on sale Thursday, March 30.
