The son of New York author Paul Auster has been arrested on charges of manslaughter after his 10-month-old baby girl died from a drug overdose last November.

Daniel Auster’s daughter, Ruby, was found lifeless in his Park Slope home.

The infant was taken to Methodist Hospital but there was nothing that could be done to save her life.

An autopsy found the child had died from a fentanyl and heroin overdose.

Police have so far been unable to say how the little girl was exposed to drugs while in the care of her 44-year-old father, but Auster was charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide on Friday night.

He it currently awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Auster’s Instagram page is full of pictures of his daughter and her mother.

It is not the first time Daniel Auster has had a brush with the law.

In 1998, he was given five years probation after pleading guilty to stealing $3,000 from the body of Andre ‘Angel’ Melendez, who was killed by ‘Club Kid Killer’ Michael Alig in 1996.

He also has a string of other arrests including several drug possession in 2008 and 2010.

In 2009 he was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property.
