Acclaimed actress Vanessa Redgrave received honours at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
Dame Vanessa, 85, is being recognised for services to drama.
The actress has been nominated for six Academy Awards during her career, winning the Oscar for best supporting actress in 1977 for her role in Julia, in which she starred alongside Jane Fonda.

When it was announced she was being made a dame in the New Year Honours, she said she was ‘surprised and grateful to join this wondrous group of British artists whose work has inspired me and audiences the world over’.
As well as her acting career she has also been a tireless activist for a number of causes, including calling for better support for the cultural sector and joining protests in 2020 over plans to cut jobs following the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
The event comes after three generations of the legendary Redgrave acting dynasty turned out to the Roksanda SS23 show during Frieze London on Tuesday.

Oscar-winning actress Vanessa was joined by her daughter Joely, 57, Richardson and granddaughter Daisy Bevan, 30, at the Serpentine Gallery for the fashion event.
Joely has previously admitted she was more of a daddy’s girl and is proud of her late father, director Tony Richardson, who won an Oscar for the 1964 film Tom Jones.
He divorced Vanessa in 1967 and later revealed he was bisexual. He died of complications from AIDS in 1991 at 63.
The dynasty is one of the UK’s most famous acting families, with Vanessa winning Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe and Emmy Awards throughout her career.

Dame Andrea said she was ‘deeply honoured’ to be recognised when her damehood was announced in June last year, adding: ‘It is an immense privilege to be recognised for service to politics.’
