Critically injured trail bike rider is airlifted to hospital after crashing while zooming along a remote trail

  • Sunshine Coast based LifeFlight Rescue helicopter treated him at the scene 
  • He was flown to Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital in a critical condition 

A man has been flown to hospital after he was critically injured in a trail bike crash on Sunday morning. 

The man, aged in his 40s, was riding in a state forest in the Sunshine Coast hinterland when he crashed. 

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called into action from the Sunshine Coast soon after 8.30am.

The helicopter pilot was able to land close to where the injured man was. 

Local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were already on scene.

A critical care doctor who had been on the helicopter and a QAS paramedic treated the rider for head, chest, and leg injuries.

The man was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital in a critical condition for further treatment.
