Conspiracy theorist accused of intimidating 2GB worker when Ben Fordham refused to let him on radio faces court after being arrested inside his bizarre boat home

  • ‘Sovereign citizen’Ā David Graham charged with stalking

A conspiracy theorist has arrived at court surrounded by supporters after he allegedly stalked and harassed a 2GB worker over being refused an interview on Ben Fordham’s breakfast show.

David Graham, a ‘sovereign citizen’ who calls himself ‘Guru’, was arrested in Wollongong, south of Sydney, on Friday after allegedly intimidating a radio worker.

Daily Mail Australia understands the charges relate to Graham allegedly repeatedly harassing a 2GB staff member over the phone on January 30 after he was refused a spot on Fordham’s prime-time show.

The concreter was arrested after police searched his boat, which is also his home, in Wollongong Harbour, with officers also allegedly finding drugs.

Graham walked into Wollongong Local Court on Thursday to face the charges, throngedĀ by more than a dozen supporters.Ā

While he was refused a spot on Ben Fordham’s show, Graham did get a brief stint on John Laws’ show, who called him a ‘conspiratorialist’ and ‘clown’.

In late January, Graham told supporters he would be interviewed by Fordham at 5.45am the following morning – but no such agreement had been made.Ā

If the interview did not happen for any reason, Graham told his followers to call and email 2GB demanding that he be put on air.Ā

But not only did he not get on air,Ā Fordham interviewed a woman who warned about the dangers posed by sovereign citizens.Ā

Callers to 2GB reportedly told the producers Graham should be allowed on, but Fordham said he had not been promised a spot on his show and suggested he ‘change his medication’.

Fordham also said some sovereign citizen movement followers were upset because ‘apparently I have been making fun of them’.

What is the sovereign citizen movement?Ā

Sovereign citizens believe they are immune from government rules and in some cases have violently confronted police.

In the US, the FBI has described the movement as ‘domestic terrorism’.Ā

The radio host said he thought he would support them because he opposed lockdowns and vaccine mandates during the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Well I’m happy to give them some assistance in finding a good therapist,’ Fordham said.

Graham, who has also had an apprehended violence order taken out against him by police, is running for the NSW Parliament in next month’s state election.

He has built an online following during the pandemic with posts and live streams opposing lockdowns.

Since his arrest, Graham has lodged an application for police to return items seized from his boat.

‘They took everything from inside the boat – every device,’ he said in a livestream.

‘They also took all the stuff they weren’t supposed to take which is all our election gear, all my signatures that I came down to Canberra and got off you beautiful people.’

He said he used his time in custody to ‘red pill’ Wollongong police officers and that he uses the mainstream media to get his messages out.

‘Red pill’ is a reference to the 1999 film The Matrix, where taking the pill leads toĀ  learning a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth.

‘If we get a chance to use the mainstream media … let us have it, we need it – we’re in a war,’ he said.

But he did not improve his chances of getting on mainstream media when last Tuesday he allegedly clashed with journalists who were at Wollongong Courthouse for unrelated matters.

Fordham said he would be ‘reaching for the headache tablets’ if he allowed Graham on his show.

‘They need a check-up from the neck up. Their brains are fried. So to any of these people who are listening this morning, stop listening to lunatics who are feeding you false information.’
