Another shake-up at struggling Channel 10 as Narelda Jacobs QUITS her newsreader position of 14 years

Channel 10 has announced yet another talent shake-up following weeks of high-profile resignations and musical chairs among its hosts.

Veteran presenter Narelda Jacobs has officially quit her role hosting the network’s 5pm Perth news bulletin, a position she has held for 14 years.

A Ten spokesperson confirmed the news to TV Blackbox on Thursday, adding that ‘an announcement for her replacement is imminent’.

Jacobs has plenty to keep her busy at the network as she prepares to host Ten’s new one-hour news bulletin, 10 News First: Midday.

The program is scheduled to take over one hour of Studio 10’s time slot in 2023.

Jacobs will also remain a co-host on Studio 10, which from January will be starting at 10am instead of 8:30am.

It’s the latest in a string of switch-ups at Channel 10, following the departure of The Project hosts Lisa Wilkinson, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar.

Sarah Harris has also departed Studio 10 to replace Bickmore as the main anchor on The Project.

Channel 10 has had a tumultuous year of poor ratings and dwindling advertising dollars as it struggles to compete against rival networks.

Earlier this month, the television station axed its daily news bulletin 10 News First: Breakfast following a spate of disastrous ratings.

During its first five days on air, the show drew an average of just 17,000 viewers across the five major cities.

The outcome set a new record for the worst-rated program in Australian TV history.
