Channel 10 have finally confirmed rumours that this year’s season of The Bachelor will feature not one but three suitors.

Official confirmation came via The Project on Monday night, with host Osher Gunsberg revealing that three men will look for love on the show.

Drummer Jed McIntosh is locked in to appear on the reality dating show alongside professional basketballer Felix Von Hofe and life coach Thomas Malucelli.

‘We are so excited. We’re doing a world first. No-one in the world has ever had three bachelors, and so therefore the way it works, the way everyone gets to know each other is very different this year’ Osher said.

‘It is already been fascinating. We have been going for a while now and it is already just electrifying what we are seeing.

‘Not only do we go to head office to say can we have three bachelors, it is we want to do it without candles and without fairy lights, that is a meeting we had to get through!’

According to music website Big Sound Percussion, Jed is a drummer for the Melbourne-based alt-pop band Mood Monroe.

He started drumming when he was just four years old, and began playing professionally at 13.

Jed began touring at the age of 16, and soon found himself in Los Angeles, working with a variety of up-and-coming stars.

The talented percussionist has also worked with a long list of A-list musicians, including Kylie Minogue, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain and Sean Paul.

His band, Mood Monroe, featured on triple j’s Unearthed in 2020, where their music was described as combining ‘hard-hitting energetic productions with vulnerable storytelling, reminiscent of acts like Imagine Dragons and The Weeknd’.

Jed modestly joked to The Project that he has a lot to prove on the show.

‘When you are standing next to two of the biggest, best looking blokes in Australia I have to get something out of my pocket,’ he said on Monday.

Not much else is known about Jed at this stage, and his Instagram page is set to private, which is a requirement for all Bachelor stars.

Thomas is a former restaurant manager from Sydney, who has spent the last five years working as a fitness and life coach.

He told The Project that a lot of the fun so far has been getting to know the other Bachelors.

Meanwhile, fellow suitor Felix – who stands at a whopping 198 centimetres – is from Melbourne and plays basketball for the Melbourne Tigers.

Felix told The Project on Monday that he wanted to try dating women on the show because he is old fashioned.

‘I wanted to jump in here because I felt I may have been born 10 years too late’ he said.

‘I am not using the dating apps, I like to talk to people face-to-face. I enjoy having proper one on one dates and getting to know each other rather than the Instagram’.

Last year’s premiere episode of The Bachelor garnered only 482,000 viewers, compared to 2020’s premiere, which drew 681,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, last year’s finale with Jimmy Nicholson brought in 629,000 viewers, while 879,000 viewers tuned in for Locky Gilbert’s season in 2020.

The Bachelorette fared even worse, with last year’s finale with Brooke Blurton bringing in the smallest audience since the show’s inception in Australia.
