A Perth man is lucky to be alive after the driver of a Toyota Hilux ploughed into him just moments after verbally abusing him at a nearby park.

The 45-year-old man had been walking on Harris Street in Carlisle when the driver began to accelerate towards him at about 7pm on Thursday evening.

In terrifying footage of the hit-and-run, the driver swings off the road and into a driveway before striking the man with the ute’s front bulbar.

The ute caused structural damage to an outside storage room, with the driver fleeing the scene without providing assistance to the victim.

Western Australian Police said the driver ‘sighted the victim and accelerated heavily towards him – striking the victim with the front bulbar’.

It’s understood the driver had verbally abused the man in a nearby park before he escaped by jumping a fence and landed in Harris Street.

The 45-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries but was released a short time later.
