Britney Spears‘ fans took issue with a caption the singer made underneath a series of new photos she posted to her Instagram on Sunday.
The Gimmie More hitmaker, 40, was featured in three similar portraits with both her hands holding her face, with the caption: ‘First pic I’ve ever done with my hands on my face like this!!! Year of first times … on the bucket list I guess !!!’
However her 41.5M followers disagreed with that assertion, swiftly reminding the singer of her previous cover for song Hold It Against Me, which saw her in the same exact pose.
Misremembered? Britney Spears’ fans took issue with a caption the singer made underneath a series of new Instagram photos, where she said she never posed with her hands over her face
In the portraits – which featured two black and white snaps and one color photo – the Louisiana native wore a puffed-sleeve white shirt, and had her blonde tresses pulled halfway back, with her bangs framing her face.
She sported her usual heavy charcoal eyeliner and intently gazed into the camera, with both her hands firmly placed on her cheeks.
Meanwhile the cover for Hold It Against Me – which served as the first single from her seventh full length studio album, Femme Fatal, released in 2011 – saw the blonde beauty gently caressing her face with both hands while looking into the camera.

She was previously married to Kevin Federline, 44, from 2004 to 2007, with whom she shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, who did not attend her recent wedding.
She was also wed to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander, 40, in 2004, for a brief 55 hours, before getting an annulment. Alexander was booked into jail on Thursday after dramatically livestreaming himself crashing her latest wedding.
Britney arrived to the fairy tale ceremony via horse-drawn carriage, and she and Sam exchanged their vows under a pink and white floral arch.
The star-studded affair was attended by Paris Hilton, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez and Donatella Versace, who designed the singer’s dress, among others.
Missing from the special function was her mother Lynne, 67, father Jamie, 69, and sister Jamie Lynn, 31, with whom the singer has been estranged from following the fallout from her conservatorship, which prevented her from getting married or having another child.
