See the terrifying note a family received threatening to KILL their dogs with poisoned chocolate treats to stop their barking
- Brisbane residents Anthony and Jessica Tuite found the note in their mailbox
- The letter, sent from an anonymous neighbour, contained pieces of chocolate
- The Tuite family own two dogs who they say are ‘usually well-behaved and quiet’
An Australian family has received a chilling letter from an anonymous neighbour threatening to kill their dogs with poisoned treats if they did not stop barking.
Anthony and Jessica Tuite, who live in the Brisbane suburb of Graceville, own two rescue dogs – a black Great Dane called Barney and a brown Great Dane cross ridgeback named Donnie.
The pair found the chilling note packed with pieces of chocolate in their mailbox, warning their beloved pets would be poisoned if they did not stop barking.

Chocolate contains a chemical called ‘theobromine’, which is toxic to dogs and even in small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, seizures, heart problems and death.
‘If the barking of your dogs does not stop, the chocolate in this envelope will be thrown over your fence in greater amounts … which will kill them,’ the letter read.
‘You have been warned nicely many times by people in Long St East and Haldane St but you do nothing.’
Ms Tuite said she felt ‘instant panic’ after reading the note and begged the anonymous neighbour to not hurt her dogs.
‘These dogs are our family,’ Ms Tuite told 7NEWS. ‘Please, please don’t hurt my dogs.’
Ms Tuite explained the family had been living at the Haldane Street address for six years and their dogs were usually well-behaved and quiet.
‘They only bark when someone comes into their yard but that’s their job,’ Ms Tuite said.

Fellow Graceville residents have labelled the note ‘immoral’ and are supporting the Tuite family.
‘You just don’t make those threats,’ neighbour and body corporate chair Phil Keleman told 7NEWS.
Mr Keleman added: ‘You just kind of say ‘Hey listen, how do we work together to make it better?’.’
The Tuite family have notified police about the note but the sender remains anonymous for now.
